What have you done to your DEFENDER today?

I added a 2" receiver hitch since we're considering an Opus trailer in the not-to-distant future. I still need to figure out a few things:
1. the best way to handle a 7-pin connector for a trailer
2. a brake controller and
3. whether I want to add a few shims/spacers to better support the gap between the hitch and the frame. I think that normally, you reinstall the tie-down rings, but since I have a Richards chassis, this is narrowed by ~1mm on each side due to the thicker frame material. Sigh.

I used a Curt brake wiring adapter and a prodigy controller. I spliced into the Green w/Purple stripe wire coming out of the brake master cylinder in the engine bay, feeding it through a grommet in the bulkhead into the interior and splicing it into the Red wire from the Prodigy. I ran the white wire from the Prodigy to a good ground. I ran the black wire from prodigy into an auto-reset circuit breaker 12v supply. The blue wire I ran through the bulkhead and back to the 7-Pin Trailer plug.

for the Curt powered brake controller, I connected to the following wires:

Left Directional=green/red

Right directional= green/white

Brake/ stop lamp= green/purple

Trailer Running lights / tail lights =Red w/ Black tracer

and a good Ground that is corrosion protected, running a #10, I believe, to the frame. I still need to tap into my reverse lights— winter project…

When is Greek peak? Last one I recall there was the late 90s.

That was the 50th. I still have the T shirt and other goodies.

Organized by ANARC (ASSOCIATION OF NORTH AMERICAN TOVER CLUBS) and driven by ROAV, OVLR and BSROA.

I was running BSROA back then and the effort to pull it off is huge. Sandy Grice and Dixon Kenner of ROAV and OVLR helped lead the charge with me. Roversnorth was one of the key sponsors of that event.

I’m grateful others are taking on the burden of putting this together. Greek Peak has developed massively since then, and are working very hard with ANARC to develop the trail network so they can in future host similar events for others.

I installed a driver’s side wiper. I mentions this only because I lament the loss of the good siliblades which lasted a decade plus.

This is more a 'what have I done this week' but finally wired up UHF and VHF radio remote two-way radio heads and installed the new Sony XAV-9500ES receiver. Remote mic for the UHF/VHF goes up into the dashboard and pokes out where the coiled cable is. Bottom left are two wireless phone chargers and isolator switch for winch.

How do you feel when you know you bought some parts and for the life of you they are nowhere to be found. You look up the part and are ready to reorder.
Then as you are getting ready to leave for a weekend with your truck, go to get something and whamm….their ARE on a shelf you looked on.

Been there many times, usually after reordering them.

I’m drove away from my 90 today. Leaving it in Waterville Maine. No,I haven’t sold it. But there’s a good reason. Taking an LR 3 to a shop near me that needs air suspension work while it’s owner heals from a bad accident. I’ll return it later.

While in Waterville, three people fell in love with my truck, one even wanted to buy it. All three strangely enough we’re driving F150’s, aka my DD. Isn’t that weird!

Same DD here. Maybe it's the utilitarian nature and aluminum body. That bonnet shape looks familiar too..

There's even more similarity between them and LR3/4s. Same ZF trans, all Ford electronics, many Ford components, several common design language elements. Need a trailer controller? Buy a Ford one. The LRs even mastered the Found On Road Dead mockery.

Well no ZF in the F series. They’ve used the ten speed unit since 2017. Too many gears imho, sometimes it’s great other times especially down shifts it’s clunky. But I love the V8 coyote in my 21.

LR3/4 and F150s of similar years both used the 6R/6HP.

Love it. It replaced a similar XAV-AX5500 because I wanted wireless CarPlay. New head unit has a matte screen so no reflection issues and I prefer the size of the screen too. Still feels in proportion to the rest of the cab but easier to use.
