What have you done to your DEFENDER today?

Installed the long back-ordered steering wheel center cover and the Husky 10 is now fully functional. Normally in hibernation by this time of year, but couldn't pass up the chance to roll up the canvas and enjoy one more day of 70 degree weather. Both will be tucked away within the week.

I did some unboxing earlier today, took a few months from order to delivery and I failed with getting an LT77 as I wanted due to parts scarcity, so “upgraded” to the R380.. should be more than enough for the 200tdi I think. Looking forward to getting this installed.
I do have to say the craftsmanship on these tractor parts are pretty top shelf from what I have inspected so far, well done Winchester!

Also got some go fast bits (read make more noise) for the RS4 (not landy related) as well. Was a good day of unboxing.

I didn't fix anything, but I cursed a lot as my rear door opened and dumped a bag of groceries out of the back and smashed my starboard side upper tail bulb housing because my back door latch doesn't reliably work under 40°F

I neglected the rovers but got the 993 fixed. This is what the crank pulley looks like when a fan blade hits it.

It required like 8 hours of work by my mechanic to get the crank pulley off and fan replaced. I used the clewitt engineering kit that converts it to a tensioner and serp style belt. It was like $1500 in parts ….

I mention this because I swapped the fan clutch and serp belt in my LWB in like 20 minutes ….

so I had an idea as to why the latch doesn't close all the way when its cold (nor can lock), something is gumming up due the viscosity based on temp. Blasted the entire lock/latch/etc with mass airflow cleaner, a TON of greasy gunk came out. Lock/latch works like new.

Another solid day at @Angus garage. Some stout trailing arms installed and a hardware refresh for the rear sway bar. A few more steering/suspension pieces to go...

old one wasn't too bad, but the new was insanely well made and the crank eliminates the angle on the bush...

Well this sucked. Was up in Waterville doing the final Winter Romp prep weekend for the 2023 event, and the linkage (guessing) from my shifter to the gearbox failed. Leaving me with no access to any gears, in the middle of turning around on a trail with my trailer full of wood in tow.
It was pouring with rain all day.
Plan B kicked in after emptying the trailer, dragging that by hand for twenty yards, then yanking my truck so we could drag it out of the woods with trailer in tow….parked my truck and went back to work.

There is no linkage on the outside. The lever could have broken. I have seen that. Should be an easy fix if so with a new lever (I have seen them welded but I would not). If not I am not sure. I have also seen the t-case pop into neutral which is an even easier fix.

^ This can also happen if the grub-screw/set-screw between the shifter and the transmission rod comes loose (pull the shifter gaiter and this will be obvious; easy enough to fix). This happened to me after I had a shop change the clutch on my 90, and the idiot tech didn't bother to use any threadlocker on that grub screw when reassembling.

Yep. The other selectors are held securely with pins.
