^ This can also happen if the grub-screw/set-screw between the shifter and the transmission rod comes loose (pull the shifter gaiter and this will be obvious; easy enough to fix). This happened to me after I had a shop change the clutch on my 90, and the idiot tech didn't bother to use any threadlocker on that grub screw when reassembling.
Why would the tech have had the grub screw out to change the clutch?

Ran up to Waterville to pick up my 90 on a U haul trailer. As there seems to be a little transmission issue, winching it on to the trailer was easy. Got a lesson winching it off. Ran cable under the truck to the the rear of the trailer and pulled…..

I drove up to NH to work on my race car with my codriver and had the joy of white-knuckling it back in the first snowstorm of the year with poorly plowed/salted roads. There were no less than 40 accidents along my route, including someone who spun 180, smashed into a wall, and ripped off two of their wheels. Impressive!

The landy made it home safe after a trip that took twice as long as normal.

Replaced the upper & lower steering shroud, as the original upper had a threaded insert that would spin in the plastic. Tried securing it with adhesive (brass to the plastic) unsuccessfully. The new shroud doesn't have the same fastener set up. I was happy to see the new shroud had a fog light switch knockout. I still have that switch & use it to turn on my yellow LED camp lights.

New Years project. Rebuilt the front steering from the swivel balls out. New seals, fasteners, and drive flanges. Also rebuilt the front calipers and added new rotors and pads. I REALLY have to do something about those rusty OME springs...

The cost of powder coating is close enough to new springs when you factor in the shipping or hassle to drop them off and pick them up.

Epoxy spray paint is be what I would do personally. Well, my springs have been rusty for 20 years and it never bothered me as they work fine ….

I just took a set to my powder coater for a friend and it was $180 for four springs.

Put it away while I’m on the road. Ordered a replacement shifter, aftermarket, from Ashcroft. That hopefully will get installed before winter romp. The old one has gone bad and keeps breaking.

Sanded, sanded and sanded, for the last 3 days, also dollied out some dents and dings and managed to get the wing tops mostly straightened out, even though I'll install diamond plate to the tops later. Tomorrow is glue up day, bonnet and door skins to frames. I have 1/2 of the LH wing to finish and vent flaps, that should close out the sanding. Hopefully Tuesday I'll run everything to the paint shop.. this has been a 3 year exercise in procrastination, fresh paint is the motivation I'm needing right now.
