What have you done to your DEFENDER today?

Once thing I recommend is getting a stronger vinyl. The one I got is soft and it's a bit unforgiving with the imperfections of the 25 year old foam.

I had to "fill" voids and air bubbles before I was able to glue down the pad.

Where is the best place to look for vinyl? I am thinking local as I have a sample swatch from Exmoor for their new G4 material. I was going to do my dash at some point also.

Looks great. I second the 3m spray. I have used that stuff for years for tons of projects.

Thanks.

I got vinyl... leather will look out of place on my truck. lol

It's not that hard. I tried the paste like glue and that shit was nasty. The 3M spray worked a lot better.

Cool. I may have to try that. I may have to do my lower dash too. It's a little dinged up.

New AMC Td5 head from Turner went on today. Had head gasket failure, and figured there's no point re-installing an original head on a 10P with 150,000KM.

Is that what they mean by "preventative maintenance"?

I finally installed my rear door spare tire carrier!

You need 3 hands for this one:

The extra fog light was in the way and the bracket just barely touches the bottom hinge:

Britpart emailed me the dimensions of where to drill the first hole because my door didn't have an existing carrier:

I could have used 3 hands here too. :)

Replaced a grand total of four rusted tub-to-outrigger bolts along with a little rust proofing. Snapped all four getting them off. It's just faster that way :)

More are rusted, but I got called away to grilling duty for dinner.

But the new ones...Mmmmm.....shiny.

While I'm waiting for a new bumper to show up I took of the old rusty mess to find this hiding underneath.

A good 8 hours of cutting grinding and welding and were back in business :)

I replaced my spark plugs and advanced my timing in a hotel paring lot because my Defender did not like the altitude in Colorado. I turned that shit up to 11.

Are they loud? I need something loud. It takes me long enough to get up to speed, I want to let people know how upset I am if they pull out in front of me and make me slam on my brakes :)
