What have you done to your DEFENDER today?

Busy weekend... After work yesterday I got cracking with the truck and got the rear tire carrier installed and got the new fuse boxes installed.

It's not what I was looking for... But it sure beats the POS Lucas fuses.

What's the story behind the spare carrier? I've been looking for one that would work with my soft top truck.

Wouldn't those fit under the cover? I have one, thought of doing the same thing with it.
I was going to get something like this... Bottom fed, to avoid what is now my problem. But I don't trust electrical components made in PRC.

The wires are about 1" too short.

The ring terminals are 10 times better. They don't get loose and fall off... That's why got the BS one.

So the black Rover cover does not fit over your current set up, but you do like using the ring terminals -- is that what you're saying? Cover or not, it looks good, but I'd want to be able to put the dash cover back on.

I think I was ranting a bit... LOL

Correct. The cover doesn't go over my new setup. Yes, ring terminals are better.

There is a company that makes the under terminal... I saw a post in a UK forum that mentions them. I cannot find it right now.

The correct LR original fuse box is like $12-15 Pedro. What are you ranting about ? The tool to correctly crimp on the new connectors is a tad pricey but
, a fuse box isnt where I'd chose to leave the reservation.

I'll eventually change it... Right now it's staying like it is. :) I'm ranting that I don't like the end product. It's still fine... just don't like it.

Can you post the part number?

I have the tool to crimp the cables.

The crimp tool is something I need to shop around for. I have a cheapo one that has done a good job so far... at least, yanking on the test crimps went well... But I'd like to get one that is easier to use.

What is a good crimp tool for doing this.

I have a bunch of stuff in boxes that I am lining up to install over the winter.

I have varius crimpers for Ethernet, coax, regular home electrical so just need to add to my tool box. FYI, I have the LR part that I am converting to.

Picked up my truck, finally! Drove it back across the island and then got some bad diesel from costco (I guess) or from shipment (it was quarter of tank). Fuel sedimenter shoes no algae, but it seems unusually clear.

Car started shuddering at idle, hard start, and dies without enough throttle. This was when tank reached quarter of tank after another run across island.

Replacing fuel filter just in case and adding some additives.

Your pickup may also just be to high and you are getting air.

This has happened to me a handful of times. It's not entirely uncommon, usually I limp down the road, add a bunch of isoheet and diesel clean and dilute it as soon as possible

Something like this?

I would spring for it, I bought a cheap pair on amazon with multiple heads (had to do a lot of different connectors) and just having the right crimp tools made a huge difference.

I splurged on a set of anchor terminal (red/blue/yellow) crimpers since I feel like I reach for them the most

Rebuilt the rear calipers today. Easy peasy! Next up is swapping out the crappy no name center console for a Tuffy. After that rebuilding the front calipers so they are all refreshed equally.
You have gotta love a never ending list of things to do.

I suppose, as long as someone has used it and it works as they say. Thanks!

Now what I really need is a variety of good terminals. Can't seem to find anything in town that looks and feels professional. They all seem to be lowest bidder type stuff, and overpriced. Problem is that I can't figure out what to buy on Amazon.

This..?? PRC4826

To all:

Are there any good tips for installing this? In the back of my head I somewhat feel like I am going to be laying across the front seats with my feet stretched out the back in uncomfortable positions. And the wires aren't going to be long enough and I'll be crimping close to the dash.

Is there a write up somewhere? Video?
