I agree with your concern about diluting the party. Maybe for now just have one "Land Rover Technical Section" until it gets too crowded? Is there a way to require a prefix when writing a thread title so that the OP would have to designate "LR3/4: Check engine light" Instead of just the generic title. Maybe with a drop down menu. I work in the world of IFTTT though so I may be over complicating.

Thanks, Sam. We're not taking any donations currently. We might sell some merch later but the operating expenses aren't that substantial and we'd rather keep it as a pure, non-profit deal.

As for banning, we definitely weren't planning on that. In four years of running DiscoWeb, I've banned only two people and those bans were just temporary one-week deals to calm a big argument between two guys. N-R is at a crucial stage right now. It has to keep a strong focus on Defender tech and classifieds to be relevant. We didn't want it to become a sideshow. I hope that you and everyone else will understand but Dave and I also understand that we can't please everybody and some faction of people are always going to be unhappy with things.

We're doing the best we can. We really are serious when we say that this is a forever non-profit, no-ads deal. There aren't a lot of those types of forums left. Thanks for your patience while we get in a groove.

Good to hear, thanks Chris. I'm a huge fan of letting folks hang themselves. And I'm sure there's many of us who would definately help out donations wise if needed. Final question...any thoughts on a new Tata Defender sub-forum when it finally shows up?! Might as well ask since folks are asking for other models...Hehe. Thanks!

Sorry, the avatar size is different. The size limit for an avatar is 200 wide x 100 high. You don't really need that big of a file. I'm okay with raising the limit but it will ultimately just make the pages load slower for y'all if everyone uses huge files.

Best bet is to use one of the many free image editors to shrink your avatar image down. You can even do it on imgur.com.

I "smallerized" the picture to 132x99 and it shows as my avatar on my profile page, but doesn't show up on any of my posts. Will it only show up on a new post?

Also, is it possible to add direct links to the chronological posts for the last several days? The new posts button only shows posts since the last login and the bar on the side looks like it only shows the last 24 hrs or so. Just a suggestion since I don't always go directly to the subforums to browse..

Could you try uploading your avatar again? I think I have the bulk of them fixed.

I deleted the photo twice and re-uploaded but no luck... I even made it really small and tried again.

HAH, I figured it out.

You're uploading it as your profile picture, not your avatar picture. Try uploading the larger one as your avatar. :)

We actually thought seriously about creating a Discovery and Range Rover section. My argument against it was that a forum is like a party. The best ones weee always in crowded shoebox dorm rooms and apartments. When we were just starting out, I was afraid that too many sections would create a bunch of ghost towns.

But, things didn't go as anticipated and it's been really busy here. If Dave is cool with it, how about a D1/2/3/4 section and maybe a Rangie section, too?

Discovery section is live. Have fun. :)

Like when submitting a FRED or TA!

Can we increase the number of photos per post? I went to add a "how too" thread and couldn't post as we are currently limited to 4 photos/smilies.

Bumped it to 20 max attachments per post for you.

I'll look into adding more smilies but I didn't realize that there was a limit of them per post (besides our modesty, I suppose).

Looks like I also needed to bump the IMG tag limit--it was set to 4 per post. It's up to 40 now. FYI, you can use the IMG tag (the little icon in the message editor with the mountain and the yellow sky) to insert images hosted elsewhere into your posts.

There are a couple of good places to upload images for your posts:

http://imgur.com - I use this if I just need a quick image for a post and don't care if it sticks around forever

https://flickr.com - I use this if I am posting photos or something that I want to stick around for a long time.

Both of these services can make you some "share" links in BBCODE that can be pasted directly into your posts.
