All,

I have bumped up the max attachment size to 4 MB for JPEG and GIF. The max resolution is 2048x1536.

Let me know if anybody runs into any problems with attachments.

Great job guys. I'm probably the worst Asian ever, but I assume something like this takes some coin to operate...is there a way to contribute to the cause? Also, a plea to let people ignore each other instead of banning. There's a lot of colorful Rover folks....

Chris has proven on dweb that he doesn't take banning someone lightly. Two week-long cooling off bans in three or four years in that free-for-all speaks for itself.

Thanks, Sam. We're not taking any donations currently. We might sell some merch later but the operating expenses aren't that substantial and we'd rather keep it as a pure, non-profit deal.

As for banning, we definitely weren't planning on that. In four years of running DiscoWeb, I've banned only two people and those bans were just temporary one-week deals to calm a big argument between two guys. N-R is at a crucial stage right now. It has to keep a strong focus on Defender tech and classifieds to be relevant. We didn't want it to become a sideshow. I hope that you and everyone else will understand but Dave and I also understand that we can't please everybody and some faction of people are always going to be unhappy with things.

We're doing the best we can. We really are serious when we say that this is a forever non-profit, no-ads deal. There aren't a lot of those types of forums left. Thanks for your patience while we get in a groove.

Does this size apply to avatars? Trying to upload an avatar that is smaller than the size limit you state above, but still getting the oversize error message.

It took several tries for mine to load as well. It finally took after a few tries and making it practically as small as I could.

Sorry, the avatar size is different. The size limit for an avatar is 200 wide x 100 high. You don't really need that big of a file. I'm okay with raising the limit but it will ultimately just make the pages load slower for y'all if everyone uses huge files.

Best bet is to use one of the many free image editors to shrink your avatar image down. You can even do it on imgur.com.

First, thank you for creating options for everyone. I appreciate what you're doing, and that it's your forum, do with it what you will. I whole-heartedly support you doing whatever you want - IT IS YOURS. We get the benefit of deciding to frequent it or not.

To that end, I'm no longer a Defender owner, but still have Rovers in the stable and will continue to go to the best source of knowledge for them, the people that post on these forums. I hope it's okay that I may ask an LR3 or RRC question on here from time to time. Maybe in the future you'll consider adding an LR3 section (unlike other forums), or at least tolerate me...

Thanks in advance.

I second "add an LR3 forum" - that would be one way to get a chunk of the Defender Source guys over here. Chris, I know it's against your ethos with Dweb and all that but all is fair in love and war. This is both,

Hoping I'm not speaking for chris and Dave but I think the point of this site was to have a site that was "ours" and not owned by unknown faces with financial motives. Most of us have or had rrc, lr3s discos etc and that kind of chatter is most certainly welcome. the more questions, modern tech etc the better this site will be. As the saying goes NAS-row never forgets. Ha I just wanted to be the first to say it

The Disco owner in me would suggest we just label it a Discovery Forum (D1, Dii, D3/LR3, D4/LR4) :)

In fairness, NAS and ROW applies to a lot more than just Defenders. So we've got that going for us. Which is nice.

Thanks Chris and Dave

Thanks for working on getting this site up and running.
I hope I can give to the site and will check as much as I do the "other" site. At least check everyday for something cool or useful.

We actually thought seriously about creating a Discovery and Range Rover section. My argument against it was that a forum is like a party. The best ones weee always in crowded shoebox dorm rooms and apartments. When we were just starting out, I was afraid that too many sections would create a bunch of ghost towns.

But, things didn't go as anticipated and it's been really busy here. If Dave is cool with it, how about a D1/2/3/4 section and maybe a Rangie section, too?

By the way, I'm not concerned with any DWeb conflicts/overlap. DWeb is another planet with its own culture and set of rules. There are lots of people who will only frequent one or the other.
