I reinstalled the upper links and mounts to the chassis. The manual states to tighten the fasteners between the uppper links and the fulcrum but do not torque. Lower the truck, let the suspension settle and then torque.

For the upper link mounts (to chassis, 6 bolts), should I torque them now or just tighten and then torque them when the truck is on the ground and the suspension has settled? And does that go for all the suspension connections?View attachment 27351
Let it settle, then torque.

I would tighten them enough that they can slightly move without binding, then I would set the truck on the ground, bounce and roll it forward backward just a foot or two, then torque them all down at their "natural and rested" position.

In my opinion they are only referring to bolts that go through a bushing. On later trucks those brackets are welded on

Thanks everyone. In my '83-'92 manual they refer to both a "fulcrum bracket" and a "pivot bracket", the later being not listed in their diagram by name, only in the steps. They do say to unscrew the lower ball joint from the pivot bracket. They state to let settle and torque when referring to the upper links / pivot bracket connection. All that said, I'll, at minimum, just tighten everything to allow a little movement, and then torque everything when on the ground and settled.

in situ after approximately 23 years! A Uhaul van worked great to drive it back to its home. Has a flat floor and full length rubber mat.
