It's closer to work that home but I use it as an excuse to go to Trader Joe's or downtown. I do wish we had more dealers.

OK, so I'm driving the 300Tdi now!

Once I got the odometer set up correctly and all, I went and filled up the tank. Before that I estimated my miles done for 1/8 of a tank and was looking at 20 MPG.

The needle was just below the middle mark when I filled up, and it took 10.01 gallons. Now the needle is just above the middle mark, and I've done 191 miles, this means that if I estimate 9 gallons to full, I'm only getting 21.2 MPG.

I'll make it official and get a fill up when the needle gets to 1/2, maybe tomorrow -- I want to know how many gallons it will take when it shows 1/2. But getting 21.2 MPG seems a bit low, even though I've done some experimental driving and some idling.

I consistently got ~27mpg in my 300 Tdi double cab 110 with 235/85 tires. City and highway didn't seem to make much difference.

Given how notoriously inaccurate the fuel gauges are on these trucks, when you are ready, refuel (technically use same pump) and report back. Personally, I tend to ignore single tanks or half tanks or even half journeys.
Then there is always the tank that goes incredibly well or it seems to suck gas harder than normal.

Isuzu 4JB1-T 2.8 TD = 24.5 MPG
Iveco 2.8 TD (same engine as the Santana PS-10) = 25.3 MPG
Both have R380 stumpy transmissions with 1.4 TC
90% of this driving is interstate.

I am getting about 26MPG from my 200TDI in an 88" Series truck.

1.6 Transfer Case and 3.54 Diffs.

Average speed around 55-65MPH

I have a new T-Case ordered that is 1.4 and will be interested to see if my fuel economy increases a little as the 1.6 is jacking my RPM's up at those speeds.

I was in a 1955 Series 1 on the NJ turnpike with no doors doing 65 for almost an hour before heading through the Holland tunnel.

I had a 57' Series 1 with a 3.9 in it a couple years ago...........I had that truck to almost 80mph.

80 was terrifying, but mid to upper 60's is fine in a truck that has been gone through.

:D

Anyway, I should have the 1.4 in it within a month I hope and will see if my mileage increases some.

LOL, you guys are misunderstanding -- mine won't go over 60! It drives true and smoothly enough to do more than 60, it just won't push that hard. I can't imagine what the poor engine must feel like at 60mph.

It's stock with 7.5x16 G90 tires.

Was regularly getting 24MPG with a 2.8TGV and stock 3.54 gears / 1.2 TC on 32" tires... Then, we went to 35" tires and 4.56 gears. MPG went to 20 :(

All of the Series speed talk reminds me why I held out for a Defender this go round. When I had my Series truck back in the early 2000's I NEVER drove over 55 with the gas engine. it was pretty smooth as far as ride but it always felt like the engine and transmission was being worked hard. With a replaced updated drive train like a 200 Tdi and R380 I bet it could go much faster but I would want upgraded brakes to go along and you might as well have a Defender at that point.

At some point I need to figure out how my '91 ROW 110 does... The 200Tdi is slow, but I get good enough fuel economy that I think I've fueled it up less than 10 times since I got it in October... I don't drive much every day, but still.

I just added mine to the spreadsheet. It is an '89 110 with a 19J and a FrontRunner roof rack. Most of the miles I cover are highways at 55-65, but much of the balance is stop and go in Manhattan. The best tank I've ever gotten was 23mpg from NYC to Mystic avoiding the interstate in both directions. I doubt I ever got about 55. On a recent trip from Maine on 95/495 at 60-65 more or less the whole way I got 20.7, which is spot on my average over the last year.

FWIW, and at the risk of opening a totally different line of discussion, I add Opti-Lube to each tankful. I haven't tested whether that impacts my mpg, but my engine seems happier with it.
