Finished up a wooden floor for the back of my D90...used African Mahogany and teakdeck caulking.

Are you doing all new hardware or replating the old hardware? Thecae plating shop I used to use closed down..


All new , it's a humongous pain in the ass. Land Rover doesn't even offer some of these bolts anymore in the gold finish. Lr converted a lot of these part numbers over to a dull silver cad plating. It also doesn't help that bearmach just sent me 20 bolts in two different colors and two different head sizes all with the same part number?

So it turns out that bearmach says they are in the middle of a part number superseding from Land Rover. Unfortunately in Land Rover classic style they are superseding (without actually changing the part number) the part number with something that is functionally the same because it is the same length but physically different because it has a 12 mm head in a different finish. So they're going from a 60 mm long bolt with a 10 mm head and a shiny gold finish to a combination of a 60 mm long bolt with a silver dull cad finish and a 10mm head and a 60 mm long bolt with a 12 mm head and a dull gold finish.

There's no guarantee when you order the part number that you'll get one or the other as they don't know which is newer.

They were good enough to give me a refund plus partial shipping. Just a pain in the butt because they can't manually pick the parts. I'll make do with what I have.


For those who don't know I used to work for BMW motorcycles North America and led the company through their transition from paper books to the Atlas ETK system. before this transition all dealers of motorcycles and cars were expected to keep paper book catalog of every part number for every North America vehicle all the way back to 1962. ETK is an acronym in German that translates to electronic parts catalog. Those guys would supersede part numbers with a new number so seamlessly that on the day of part super session there would be a one-hour changeover that would notify you in the system of the new part, new parts supplier, any changes to the part, how many left in stock of the old part, how many new stock, and when The volume of the existing part number would be exhausted estimation.

This was 20 years ago. It's frustrating to see a company like Land Rover still having issues like this. Well the Germans are obviously world leaders in this type of thing it's still irritating.

Nice! What did you use for backing under the Mahogany?
I ended up using 1/4” pressure treated plywood...used construction adhesive, then dozens of short exterior grade screws in the back and then shellacked the back for added protection. Lastly, ended up using aluminum angle on the end to hide the seam.

Regarding the seats....Rear seats are Exmoor Trim inward seats with 3 point TRS harnesses. https://www.exmoortrimusa.com/parts/ext054-bv_inward_fold_up_black_vinyl

Regarding BRRRRT...not a pilot (I wish), but I worked Avionics on the A-10 for years.

Just need to get out at dark and aim them and tie it up. But after how many years finally some lights on the bumperm

Figured I'd join in instead of just lurking on here all the time. Put some big wheels on and unboxed my wide arches to fit them up. Decided they were junk and decided to make my own out of aluminum, had to make sure they were wide enough to pass inspection. Still have to do some more work but here they are so far. Do you think it's too Jeep?

Nice productive afternoon. I pulled the water pump housing, got that all cleaned up, installed the new water pump, fresh p-gasket, new power steering lines, new belt tensioner, and had enough time left over to bolt on the new variable nozzle turbo. I just ordered new manifold horns from Zack to save the trouble of trying to detach the old rusty ones. I had none of the problems people complain about with loose fit - these were nice and snug and went home with a few whacks from a dead blow hammer. I’m hoping to have this thing driving around the neighborhood by the end of the weekend.

Make sure your replace that hose that came on the VNT on the boost actuator. It's total hot garbage.

That’s encouraging... what’s wrong with it? A vacuum hose has to be crappy to be a bad vacuum hose.

I did appreciate how the boost controller operating rod makes access to the center manifold bolt a bit crap.

It melts and blows off, the otiker clamps aren't on tight enough. Seen it at least 4 times
