Grenadier

I’ll be keeping my eye out for the new Land Cruiser if I’m in the market when it drops. I’m not touching the grenadier till I know they’ve made it and are here to stay with the support.

If you can order a base spec LC without too much wizardry it will be a serious contender. My first interest is long term durability and Toyotas certainly rank high in that regard. It does seem a tiny bit suspicious that the new LC has been hinted at so heavily and so far ahead of any release date. The "talk" is of it having a magic 112" wheelbase (same as a few other Toyota vehicles) for a class leading breakover angle plus an 8000lb towing capacity. The price might undercut the Grenadier as well.

I'm only into the IG for the initial $450 reservation fee. It's still a lot to piss away if I bail and Ineos keeps the money but not enough to sink the ship. I'll wait and see what develops closer to the purchase deadline.

They refunded the deposit almost immediately when I requested to cancel my place in line.

I’m not holding my breath Toyota will offer a basic LC, and other luxury brands just don’t do it for me. Even an aftermarket-dressed-up GX looks so alien I would just take my 109 instead.

I cancelled my reservation. Someone else is going to have to be first in the country. Refunded very quickly. They refunded in USD and I reserved in GBP, so I probably lost $20-$30 dollars on the exchange rate across 2 years. I debated just letting the reservation sit, but realistically I want to see how they do in the wild in the USA prior to ordering. Still no dealer info and I need more info on parts ordering and owner maintenance.

The price isn't so much of an issue because almost everything new costs that much now, but there are some interesting options at the high end like AEV Prospector or lower end like the new Toyotas.

I think the refund bit gets stickier after the pre-orders close. That's today afaik. Just a heads up for anyone who paid the $450 reservation fee and wants to maybe avoid dealer mark-ups (or mark-downs😲) later.

Looks like the old 130 CC/HiCap.
Chicken tax may kill import to USA, tho.
During both my in-person talks, they confirmed they are bringing the truck to the USA even with the chicken tax. They believed there was still a business case despite saying up front it would have to be pricier than competition.

Do they have any US dealers yet?

One of the reasons I dropped my reservation. Nothing official from Ineos other than a rough map with some stars on it for locations, but there are a couple locations that are advertising it themselves. The closest to me in North Georgia has an instagram.
