Lets get some more pics Doug!
I think more a case of the LR frame takes way to much custom fab to install 1t axles & 4 links. The Jeep is already linked & just needed an off the shelf long arm kit etc... Add to that Ian is a Jeep guy.....
True - but Ian had a lot of fabrication work to get the body to fit on the frame. And I think Buck and Lane used LR frames for their 4 link/big axle setups years ago.
I have a new in the box Turner long block 300 and everything else in boxes-ie 300 or so loose parts. Assembling the rest of the engine so I can do a 300 to Cummins side by side size comparison.
Interesting - ours is replacing a 300 so we will also have the two side-by-side.

I have heard that the pricing will be in the $7K-8K range. I didn't get this from trolling the net--I have another source. I'll be curious to see how accurate that is, but I suspect pretty close. Still no release date in sight that I have heard as it is trying really hard to get CA approval before release. Figure another $2K for tranny and adapter and then the various mounting adapters, hoses (like fuel) and such and I was giving myself about $12K for the various parts to make the swap doing work myself. I think this gives a fairly good costing profile to start with for those considering it... YMMV. Pretty similar to LS. And then, it all goes up from there... I think this is a very good, viable swap option for those wanting a mid power diesel.
With the 300tdi having been out of production for close to 20 years, I wonder how long before parts availability becomes a concern.
Anyway, I think the read on pricing is light - we are looking at something closer to $19K for conversion parts depending on the starting point. Tdi/Td5 trucks may be able to use the existing radiator/oil cooler & intercooler depending on mounting solutions.
The problem is that a 300tdi is going to be a cheaper and easier for LR applications. Until they dry up.
