If other drivers had read their own signs, quite literally, neither of those would have been totaled. I was not at fault in either, but I did give up bikes because I wanted to eventually have kids and be able to play with them with both my arms. I have 4 titanium plates in my forearms and a titanium elbow. Another accident would probably have ripped the plates and screws out of a bone, resulting in an amputation. I daily rode the S4R for almost 3 years, rain or shine. That is still the most fun vehicle I've ever driven or ridden, owner or otherwise. All my accidents were at rush hour. I'm not capable of being a weekend only rider or I would have kept riding.
"Motorcycles are not, of themselves, inherently dangerous. There are extremely unforgiving of inattention and stupidity on the part of yourself of those around you." - An old coworker who is a daily rider also.
One day I had an appointment to reflash my bikes ecu @ a shop outside Annapolis Md named Eastern Performance. When I pulled up I was wearing jean shorts and a t shirt on a 90 plus degree day.
This crusty old biker in bib overalls and a long braided beard gave me a tongue lashing.
His line was, Its not if you go down, its when, dress for the occasion. The very next day a small asian lady driving a mini van changed lanes into me as I was passing her in the left lane on interstate 70. Put me into the center median grass @ 70 mph. By some miracle I kept it upright and got back on the pavement, her error freaked her out, she was pulled over on the shoulder a half mile up, I didnt stop. The gristley guys condemnation burned on my brain. On another occasion on the Baltimore beltway I695 I was again in the left lane to take an upcoming left exit and I saw a chunk of 6x6 used to chock some truckers load airborne over the jersey wall and coming right @ my head. I ducked as low as I could and it grazed my left shoulder as it went by. Guessing the combined speed of the impact was @ least 120mph on a busy interstate. I quit riding 15 yrs ago because of those two incidents, pretty much the same reasons you had.
To add to the discussion:
- What vehicle did you have that you wish you had again?
- Which one did you absolutely hate?
I would love to have almost any of my previous vehicles but would change it up a little. Ex: I would love another Saab 900 but make it a SPG version; Or the Volvo 242 with a different powerplant and 5 speed. A W115 bodied MB with a hot rod OM617 and manual would be another one.
I guess the one that rings out that I didn't like was the 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser. I know people love them but that thing blew a transmission one summer when we were hundreds of miles away for home. Toyota said one thing when we needed to get it fixed but acted totally differently when it was time to pay.
My 2015 Duramax has pissed my off a bunch of times with weird breakdowns but then it gets fixed and it does a great job when it's running right.
I’d take my 67 Camaro, 69 Ghias, 72 911 and NAS 90’s back. The 2002’s & GTI’s never wow’d me.To add to the discussion:

There’s one on eBay now.Don't know what that is.
It'll take me awhile to come up with my list
Thanks; I'd never heard of these. Even the ECR site has no mention of them. There were 100 94 LE soft tops. Beluga Black with black leather seats. They had a stainless steel front "A bar" over the bumper and stainless steel side steps. I pulled that stuff off and gave it to Ron with the 135 cars in his post. I should start another thread with if you had it to do over what would you still have.
This and the 94 3.6 turbo S would be the two I wish I still had. Both have appreciated stratospherically.
I sold this 94 NAS 90 for $17,500 and it only had 36k miles. Sold It to a fellow who still has it and would guess it has maybe 45k now.
