What have you done to your DEFENDER today?

i used a MUD uk bezel where the clock goes and installed two rocker switches
Thanks. I don't think that will work on mine, as the clock on mine is right next to the temp gauge, which is next to the fuel gauge, which is next to the speedo. I was thinking about getting a MUD panel to go where the ash tray is... I have a wooden box there now, with the heated windscreen switch, but if I change that out, I'll need to find a new place to mount the hula girl.

I removed my old-style door and swapped on a 2002+ style door with gasketed window and improved electrical features. I have an 06-spec tdi wiring harness in my truck so this is the ideal plug and play solution. I also appreciate the improved-style CHMSL and the newer lock mechanism that fits the longer lock cylinders allowing the rear door to match the ignition and front door key.

I have a Mantec tire carrier and the gubbins swapped between the doors perfectly. I had to get the correct mounting plate but now I think the carriers come with both styles.

The squirters squirt, the wiper wipes, the heater heats, it’s all great.

Replaced the felt in the sliding rear side window on the right side... for the life of me I can't figure out why it doesn't want to seat in the very hole it came out of! Also, based on elbee's suggestion, I measured and learned there is room in the centre plate for the heated seat switches. The bad news is there wasn't room to snake in the plugs to the switches, so either I need to figure out how to un-pin and re-pin the connectors, or take apart the dash far enough to snake them in from the side.

Looking for a switched connection, I thought maybe I could tap in to the cigar lighter or rear window wiper switch. The front de-icer and radio are plugged in there now, so that's probably overloaded. On a hunch, I checked voltage at the lighter with the ignition on but engine off, and saw only 11.8 volts. This makes me wonder how much resistance is in that switch! Should probably think about replacing that, too...

I love installing new shocks, it makes everything seem so freshy fresh. Unlike the factory, I use gobs on anti-sieze so they might come apart in the future.

Also knocked the old breather tube fittings out, the little plastic bits didn’t survive blast and powder coat. These are the newer style where the tube just plugs in without a banjo fitting.

Huh that breather adapter is neat, they just tap in with a hammer? My axle tubes are threaded 1/8 Bpt there

Yeah, a little tap tap and they’re in there. I think all axles after 98 or so got this style, so they’ll start to really appear here soon with the 2023 imports…

I attempted to install a Safari Equip water tank in my 110 today. Epic fail. I have an older tub that has a step down in the back corner which prevents the tank from fitting in properly. The filler neck also lands perfectly in the middle of the step down. I’m going to have the tank notched and move the filler forward.

Here you can see the step

I ran into the same issue when installing my cage. Apparently it's only seen on very early trucks, what year is yours ?

Oh wow that way later than I expected. Performance and protection told me it only impacted the first two or three years of production. Bunk info I guess

Well who knows what has been to the truck over the years. Might not be the original tub.
