What have you done to your DEFENDER today?

Today was a bad day and a good day.
In the morning my Mini Countryman R60 had a total flat. Seems the tire tread came off the inside and that's all she wrote, I didn't realize it when driving home last night. THE RUNFLATS on that car are amazing.

Then my wife got sideswiped at speed on I75 in her Tesla Y. Messed up the drivers front and rear drvs doors and drvs side quarter.. so I figured I'll step it up on the wiring work so I could drive the 90 to work tomorrow... so far so good.. this will do until the weekend.. pwr windows, Hazards, Pwr door locks all work, Tach works...
But the TD5 speedo isn't marking speed now.... guess I need to switch out the 1 and 3 leads from the Transducer..

Not much today but I found a box of these brand new Airguide compasses at the yard sale. I got like 10 of them in original box but only one of this little guy. I finally find a perfect to mount since any where else on the dash are affecting the compass especially if you have the magnetic phone mount.

Loaded onto the new trailer to take back to the city for diagnosis. Some sort of intermittent fuel issue. How have I made it 20+ years of Defender ownership with out a trailer until now???

Replaced the felt in the sliding rear side window on the right side... for the life of me I can't figure out why it doesn't want to seat in the very hole it came out of! Also, based on elbee's suggestion, I measured and learned there is room in the centre plate for the heated seat switches. The bad news is there wasn't room to snake in the plugs to the switches, so either I need to figure out how to un-pin and re-pin the connectors, or take apart the dash far enough to snake them in from the side.

Looking for a switched connection, I thought maybe I could tap in to the cigar lighter or rear window wiper switch. The front de-icer and radio are plugged in there now, so that's probably overloaded. On a hunch, I checked voltage at the lighter with the ignition on but engine off, and saw only 11.8 volts. This makes me wonder how much resistance is in that switch! Should probably think about replacing that, too...View attachment 23391
i need to extend my seat wiring to right hand seat, just a tad short.
Here is a photo of my switch setup

Replaced track bar, added some auxiliary lights, finally fixed a busted front runner leg, installed MUD dome light, serviced fluids and grease points.

Next project is insulated roof and install headliner, and replace power steering pump (pouring fluid), also address slight intermittent death wobble on right front.

Installed the GL1012 from Gwyn Lweis. It goes in the back of the rear tub on the 90.
I had already installed the YRM rear tub conversion and seatbelt support bar so I had to remove the support bar in order to get everything else in but everything went in just fine. Took about an hour for the driver's side (LHD) and about 20 minutes for the passenger.

I installed the Gwyn Lewis guards for the front (behind the front tires) and rear (both in front of and behind the tire, like your photo) they work great at keeping mud, water, and salt off the outriggers and frame.

I have a Defender 90 and 130, I love D90 the most but spacing is an issue when we go camping together as a family, I could use my X5 and the G-wagon but again, it's not Defender, Lol.

So after a good search on internet, I finally found a surplus M101 CDN2 trailer on facebook, I decided to trade 2 x SVT-40 for a trailer. So it's about 800 $ Canadian since I paid about 400 $ each for a SVT 40 like 10 years ago.

It's almost complete at the last few last photos, I still need a 50 litres flat water tank and mount under the roof top tent, 2 x 100 ah or 1 x 200 ah deep cycle battery to run 12v fridge and water pump. I have a EcoFlow Delta 1260wh to run everything that need AC power along with 160w solar charger. It should be enough for a few days of camping without burning fuel but I also have Honda Eu2200i for back up, lol.

I’ve been busy on my 110 for the past few weekends getting it ready to take to Denver next weekend with the plans of leaving out west for the next year or so. Some things haven’t gone as planned, such as the water tank install (didn’t even bother trying the fuel tank). All in all, I feel pretty good at where I’m at with it.

Today I replaced all of the worn out door hinges and adjusted the doors so they actually seal. I also installed a Rockware tie rod with new tie rod ends. I’ll keep the old ends as spares.

The only thing I might do this week if I get around to it would be to install the Hella 550s that I’ve got for the front bumper. I don’t need them,!!75 I love the classic look.

Not sure about the shiny aluminum in an all black interior. Getting rid of the original knobs that would spin & even come off unexpectedly is a long overdue improvement. There was no fixing the old ones.
