My new Alisport was bent on both sides. Damaged somewhere between factory and when the shop installed it but since nobody caught it I took the responsibility to fix it on my dime. Paid out of my own pocket to return it to Alisport for repair, which was not cheap. Factory received the radiator, Andrew Graham responded that they tested and showed it leaking, and then they lost the radiator and would not return calls or emails.

Shop told me to use Ron Davis but nooooo, I gotta go with Alisport...

I finally finished the front left axle refresh (mostly) by replacing the flexible brake hose. Is there a way to do this without making a huge mess of the brake fluid?

I will still need to adjust the end float again once the shims I ordered from RN arrive. I had to use three to get it in spec when it should apparently be a max of two, so I ordered thicker ones.

The other side should definitely go much faster.

When opening the brake system up, I use a piece of wood to keep the brake pedal pressed to close the master up. This prevents too much fluid from dripping out from gravity. Still a little fluid comes out but way less than if you let gravity do its thing.

Had an interesting conversation with a buddy whose lived and breathed LR since he was a kid and picked up wrenches to help his Dad. Now works at a shop.
His take, coolant gets acidic after 18-24 months. Replacing it frequently is necessary.

Back to LR style, hopefully the Allisort fans will work. We have a plan B (still electric) thats worked for another wheeling buddy ready. Plan C, back to Viscous.

Yup, i had same thing happened to me a few years ago; my radiator was a few months out of warranty.
They offered the same inspection and it was $400 to ship the radiator back. Local radiator shops won't touch alum radiators.
So, I wrote off my losses. Then, I spent about 500 to have a local rad shop put in a thicker (full depth) copper radiator.
It cools fine for the most part at 188-190 with viscous fan... except when it's 90C+ ambient everything in the engine bay is heat soaked on the trail.
IN fact, truck was just idling to air tires back up after trail run... and it went to 220F!
I'd be interested in a radiator solution you are happy with.

My Allisport developed a leak at the same location as yours in the photo. I took it to a local shop and they were able to weld it up and it seems fine now, but I was pretty frustrated to have to deal with this issue in a ~2 year old radiator. The shop said it was likely due to electrolysis corrosion but I have no idea how valid this theory is.

It’s not just radiators and whatever- the quality is potentially poor on most of the new aftermarket parts. From turbos, to engine parts and suspension stuff. The finish fails within months, bolts don’t torque up without snapping and the list is endless.

Ron Davis radiators include instructions on how to check for electrolysis in the cooling system

So
If you wanted to do a RD set up, is there a radiator version that fills the entire width of the stock R+ IC, and then a full size intercooler in front of that?

Gravity and clear tubing works, or my speedy way of clear tubing and a 50cc syringe. Suck the fluid out slowly to get the air out of the calipers while tapping on the calipers slightly to aid. E

Side note and random, are there any aftermarket hubs that are wider than stock? Instead of using a spacer sing, that is. E

I was finally able to fly out to AZ to collect this 110 from Sonoran Rovers. Pretty interesting setup with the panorama windows. Not my first choice but my wife fell in love with the color. 300tdi with a really solid motor and chassis. Some rust on the toe boards but nothing serious. Going to take care of that before it becomes a problem. Other than that, need a rear tire carrier and then plan the interior build out for some weekend warrior / multi week trips with the wife and doggo.
