What have you done to your DEFENDER today?

New steering wheel installed on the first 'nice' day here in IL! Also a good dust off and prep now the likelihood of snow and salt is tapering off.
Quite a difference over the original one - not 100% sure if its for the better, but I'll give it a go over the next few days.

Added spacers & switched my wheels from black Wolf rims with Super Traxion bias-ply tires to white Wolf rims with more appropriate radial LT235 85R16 Goodyear Wranglers. I ordered the 8 ply tires thinking it would be a more "old school" look, but they never felt "right".

New shoes look good. Notice much difference in handling?
For sure. Much less wandering on the freeway. Surprising how much a little wider stance & better tires changes things.
Still don't fit in the standard ruts in a forest road, but I don't think about it as much.

Failed trying to fix the bad fuel tank sender, could not for the life of me get the ring on the old one to turn. 2 of the tabs look to have rusted off and no amount of wire brush and penetrating oil plus whacking it with a chisel helped. Then wifey was able to rip the wires out of the plug now now it really doesn't work . Also, I now have a P-gasket leak that has returned after almost 2 years... Any body know of a shop in the Philly area that could help me out?

bummer, time to drop it. closer to the rear crossmember, you should have a disconnect for that sender. I can make you a new plug if required.

Thanks Francis, for the electrical I was able to disconnect (before the aforementioned wire removal), the vehicle side plug seems fine.

Started doing some overdue rattle reduction work on rear door panel. Part of the long delayed table project. Plus installed new GMRS radio. So much fun fishing wires through the dash....

Where did you mount the antenna?

Moved the Perentie from its winter parking spot and had a teeny leak from the left swivel.

Found some seals in the "coiler travel box" and fixed it right up :)

The Aussies had replaced the front axle with a pretty new one, and it had never been apart.

I was stuck for a minute on how to get the swivel / hub chunk loose from the axle flange ... the gasket was Really Glued In!

Put the tire back on and lower it to the ground?

Naaa, seems risky.

Got the extra bottle jack and with the axle on the jackstand, lifted ever so lightly on the space between the rotor and the wheel mounting surface and the gasket peeled away slowly and controlled ... jeez, it almost looks like I've done this before :ROFLMAO:

Anyway, all back together, just a tablespoon of gear lube needed to top it off, and drove it to work today!

Where did you mount the antenna?

I made up a mount using a strip of store bought aluminum, bent and drilled to suit my needs.
New radio has a thicker, hopefully less restrictive, antenna cable, so I get to install that. Not this weekend though.

This weekend is all at Greek Peak working the RTV layout and many other details for the 75th. My Defender stayed home.

Www.landrover75.com BTW registration costs increase on the 15th.

Not just today...but a few weeks in. About 40hours in (mostly solo), Cummins reinstalled onto new Marsland chassis. My Son came to visit...so I put him to work! Had to use bare wheels in front to clear the limited body height (sills were about 33" up, wouldnt clear the 35's) and remove the shift levers. Photo of the rust from the Right side rear rail (just in front of shock mount, where rear cross member should be....) sheet metal patches and waxoyl provided camouflage of the swiss cheese
