Finally go the new engine 4.6 block with 3.9 accessories built in and running on my 95 NAS. Well today I just hooked up electronics, set the distributor (without vacuum) and performed a 30 minute breakin on the new engine. It has been the end of a lot of weekends. And some $$'s. Won't know how it acts until I do the first oil change tomorrow, hook up the vacuum advance and take it for a road test to really set the timing. It will take some trial and error with the new Crane cam. The Idle is smooth now I am just hoping for some increased freeway power.

So after new springs (shocks were replaced no terribly long ago), shock towers, new hoses, new brake line, new panhard bar, new radiator, new silincer back half of the exhaust, fresh fluids and filters. I got the truck back on the road since being in storage since 2019.

drives great, can't wait to get to some meets in texas and some cars and coffee stuff.

Next is chasing a couple small leaks, new breather lines, new track bars, wiring up new rear worklight, second row seatbelts (seems to be a little it of a pain), and probably new second row. Plus clar bar and polish the rough truck up a little tp bring back the paint some.

Installed a cruise control from Rostra. Hardest part was finding a location for the black box, the rest was pretty easy, so far so good.
Seems not to be a popular mod around here, but I'll be making many trips between the SF Bay area and Arizona so I'm sure it'll come in handy.

Replaced the A-frame ball joint with the SDO version. Before pic below. I think I got off pretty easy with getting the old one out. Only had to cut one of the long bolts that holds the carrier to the arms. The clunk when letting off the gas is officially gone.

I also took the opportunity to install Superpro poly bushes to the frame side pivots.

Mine was simpler. Temps up to 50, snow melting. Went over to my trucks winter storage barn and started him up. First turn of the key after nearly six weeks.
Try that in any new car with its electronics always on...

we've been ditching the cover latches. Latches were to keep the lids from rattling and that's pretty much impossible with the mat. Eliminates some painstaking cutting . Another thing we've found is the the battery box flap cover is quite annoying. Have had a couple trucks come in where owners have made the cut across the back to make this a removable section. Going to make this cut on our trucks.
I also made mine removable, it quick and easy and makes sense. I also sectioned the floor mat to be able to pull out the sides (mine has dense foam on the underside which sponges up water and never lets it dry.

Pro tip.. always check the hoses you get from the auto parts stores... 5/16th fuel line should not be used for coolant... seems that I didn't check the actual hose when I got it and installed it.. and it kinda melted around the clamp.

So I replaced that today with a High temp silicone hose and Vola... my crazy coolant system is performing great now the it can make pressure when hot..

Excellent!!. I wanted to do this but I have the short length vents in my 1988 D90. I do however have a regular dash top with the longer opening and longer finish vent trim. But my metal under that is only for the short length vents.. How difficult would it be to just measure out the standard long length spacing, cut out the excess metal, then insert the plastic screw nuts and install the Defender vent 2.0 from Mud?

You're talking about the dashtop itself? That'd not bad. You pull the 2 side caps, remove the screws holding the dash in along the front edge(occupant side) and the screws holding it in from the vents itself. The hard part is getting to this point in the pic.

From the instructions included you can notch the vent to make it fit without having to cut the extra metal. (Again that's if you're talking about the dashtop itself)

Make sure you get replacement pop clips for the vent panel.
