Tool Deals Thread

Dang repriced to $66
There is still one in the "other vender" area (used) for $38. I have always found them to be a good deal as I don't care if it had a little use. It is going to get a lot more. I personally have a lot of wrenches right now, lol. My friend just had his tools stolen from his truck so I am putting together a nice little kit for him to surprise him with :)

Not as good as the Craftsman deal, but you get SAE as well so basically about the same. Husky definitely good enough for the back of the truck set.

Ratcheting Combination Wrench Set, SAE/MM (10-Piece) $19.88

Small throat but stellar deal if you are in the M12 Ecosystem. Can always try to return battery later for store credit. Sometimes works, sometimes does not.

Interest to get people’s thoughts on 3/8 impact v 1/2 inch. I’ve used 1/2 for decades... but toying with making a switch to reduce weight especially in the off road tool kit.

I have the mini 3/8 impact m12 from Milwaukee. I love it. I don't pull lugs nuts off or try to remove trailing arm nuts (still use 1/2" for that), but damn near everything else. Less then half the weight and size. Great for light and medium duty jobs that my 1/4 impact driver cant handle.

I have a little 3/8" Craftsman that I bought last fall and love it. Super light, nicely sized and still very powerful. When you think that 75% (purely a guess) of the fasteners in a Land Rover are M6 and M8 then a 3/8" cordless makes total sense. And a good 3/8" impact is fine for most M10 bolts too.

I just bought a bunch of Wera stuff. JimC says Wera is for plumbers and sold at german version of Home Depot, but I like it and it’s cheaper than hazet (I paid like $50 for one hazet spark plug socket).

My favorites are the 10 piece screwdriver/chisel driver set. $103 at chadstoolbox. Has Posidrive 1-3 a couple torx as well as the normal slotted and Phillips 1-3. I also bought the normal screwdriver set which was $30 on prime. They have lazer tips. Then I bought an interchangeable insulated set, because I wanted to see what it was like. Then the bond screwdriver. I also like the wobbly ratchet sets. So I bought the big 1/2in and 3/8th sets, and then the smaller 1/4in set. Then the joker switch set was half off so I bought that. And I bought a five pack of metric wrenches because I did not want to break my switch ones. All this because I needed a bit driver to work on some speaker grill screws and bought the bitcheckplus. Man I am an idiot.

Wiha and Wera both occasionally have things on crazy sales at Amazon. (Wera more than Wiha) but I bought Wera screwdriver sets from Amazon de before and the shipping was actually dirt cheap. Definitely outclasses the vehicles I am working on. My other socket is a GearWrench ;)

Ya, I got between 30-50% off of MSRP. Chadstoolbox had some great deals and free (but very slow) shipping (USPS from Alaska). Prime was usually a bit and sometimes a lot more. I have seen Wera more inexpensive on Amazon UK or Germany but I can’t figure that out.
Oh, and I bought a 3ft set of knipex bolt cutters on Amazon for $110 (sticker was like $300 something). They remain in their plastic bag. I wish I could find more knipex for that level of discount. I got some dykes, and a cobra, but I want one of those giant sets with every pliar known to man.

this is what started it all (it has posidrive) and is on sale for $65

@evilfij my intent was not to say that German plumbers use crap tools, it’s to say that German plumbers use nicer tools than you do.

German home stores are amazing by US standards...

oh, and there aren’t really any “deals” but the guts at Trierer Werkzeug Handel Are really helpful. They sell Hazet, Facom, and... Stanley.

Oh I know @JimC. I did not take offense. :) I think you said everything german was good (even though a lot of the Wera stuff is made in czeck or Taiwan). I think Wera is a step above Williams which is what I was buying (and still like and can be bought on prime or online cheap enough). The Wera sockets, bits and screwdrivers are the best I have seen (better than hazet on screwdrivers, on par with sockets, never had hazet bits). The wobbly ratchets are very nice, but not as fine tooth as hazet (72 v 90 I think) and I might break them if I do my pipe on the ratchet trick (I stopped that after I killed a 1/2in Williams kobalt ratchet). I have not used them much yet, but I like the soft grip a lot. They are a little fatter (Wera sells all metal which are thinner) so maybe not perfect for every job, but 95% and I still have other tools. I just ordered a set of L shaped Wera metric Allen keys. They are brightly colors and were on sale for $30 on prime.

At this point I have stopped using crap tools 90%. Every non-expensive new tool I have bought is crap. I ended up giving some away to my younger friend as he had limited tools. I have some old craftsman and Williams kobalt that have held up well, but those I use mainly for SAE. Actually gearwrench is pretty decent, but kobalt, husky, craftsman, Stanley, crap. Actually I bought some 1/2in dewalt six point deep sockets that were on sale and not bad.

I may splurge on a 3/8ths hazet ratchet (that’s like the one thing I am never happy with, a 3/8th ratchet I must have ten of them), but I want to try using the wobbly Wera for a while before I shuck out. I don’t know. Who has the best hazet deals?

I don’t think there is such a thing as a Hazet deal.

ive been curious about Sonic tools even though I think they’re largely a branding effort on Taiwanese products. But truth be told, I get excited about anything that has a kaizen foam tool control option.

I have seen some hazet deals (Amazon, Chadstoolbox, KCtool) but they are few and far between. I used some hazet screwdrivers at my neighbor’s house and was not impressed. I mean they were good, and I suppose fine at half off as he got them, but I was not like wow these are the best screwdrivers ever. Sort of like current snap on. They are good, but they are not better than comparable brands (for snap on they are often the same as other brands) I want to get my hands on one of the new hazet 90 tooth ratchets though. I hear they are nice.

If anyone is looking for hazet deals, prime for some reason is letting me buy UK Amazon hazet with free shipping and they have some sets for like half or less off MSRP and much less expensive than KC or Chads.

This one seems to be a really good deal:

Unfortunately for me, they are the standard tooth ratchets not the HP ones.

I like the hazet satin finish combination wrenches . They are thin by design and fit in tight spots

I found the hazet set in fine tooth.
