Tithonus Paint

I was wondering how that system worked. I have watched all the videos, but, lot's of marketing spin on those. Very cool it worked so well.

It was impressive but it's an expensive rig. Pot holds about 30 gals of water and 4 x 55lb bags of the glass media. The compressor is a large caterpillar diesel unit producing a huge cfm. The 30 gals and 4 bag solution lasts about an hour.

Fellow I dealt with bought the rig for his retirement business- $49k.

Doug,
Would you be able to facilitate the same kind of thing for my truck (blast and paint)? I am in Norfolk so I am pretty sure I could drive it up at some point in the future. Not sure if that is part of your "Restoration/Modification" business. If so, any idea on a general cost? I think you saw my truck at the Beer Garden when my Dad drove it there, but not 100% sure.

Sure man, he said he'd come back anytime. He can do as much or as little of the truck as you desire. I met your dad, I may have seen your truck that evening, don't remember. We do everything from timing belts, to engine swaps, to frame up restorations.

His pricing model was $40 per bag of media sprayed which works out to appx $160 an hr

Chris,
Any pics on how this one turned out? I have changed my mind to Marine Blue rather than AA yellow. Still don't think I could do this on my own though...

Here ya go! I've gone way beyond what I initially planned on doing but that's pretty typical with me...lol. As you can see I dismantled the whole truck, blasted and painted the chassis, raptor lined the both top inside and bottom of the bed, wheel wells, and complete seat box. Oh, and under the bonnet (no pics shown). I had most all parts blasted to bare metal and then I began painting. Still have some painting to do but it's too damn hot out these days. I'm hoping to get a break in the weather and finish painting in the next week or so. Then the fun re-assembly continues:) I also had a great running 3.5 sitting in another truck and decided to use it and it runs great!! Can't wait to be driving this bad boy. With any luck from weather and other variables I hope to be driving it within a month, but who know:cool:

You can do it Matt! It's like I mentioned at the start of this thread, it truly comes down to what you want to get out of it and how much you are willing to put into it both in time and money. These MOD trucks look awesome just as they come so for me it was a big commitment to go this far but I had a vision and I plan to see it through. I also didn't want to make this a year long project so as far as my time frame goes I'm not too far off considering we've had tons of rain and I had some other things get in the way. Anyway, if you need anything just let me know like usual and I'm glad to help!

Cheers!

Truck was disassembled and he shot the parts on saw horses or laying on a pallet. This was weekend before last, it's now all with the painter. I may have some I took of the tithonus doors and fender skins that looked great before blasting and clearly needed replacement once blasted.

Did a set of the NAS 110 6.5 inch wheels and a Perentie cage and hoop-set as well

I was wondering how this turned out... nice.
