Curious to know what everyone says about what the “very best” splitting axe brands are? Gränsorf Bruk seems to be at the top of a lot of lists, but seems expensive.

I have a couple Snow & Nealley axes. At the house, I have a 3-1/2" single bit axe. It's well balanced and keeps a nice edge. In the truck, I have a Hudson Bay camping axe. Not as much leverage or weight as the single bit, but equally as useful. Both are reasonably priced and made in the US.
I know there are some fancy composite handle and CAD designed custom alloy axe heads out there that are proven to be better. However, I like the feel of a wood handle and a hand ground steel axe head.

I don’t know because I have been using the same cheap fiberglass axe since college, but I have my eyes on a couple new ones. A chopping and a splitting. Figured I’d just get fiskar, then I started looking at the ones Gedore own (copy paste so I don’t misspell it and link should take you to KC’s page with the catalog):

Ochsenkopf

Id love to hear from more people with experience with any of the premium/best axe brands.

I am a fan of Council Tool products, made here in North Carolina. I have a couple of splitting mauls, an axe, hatchet and a few bush axe. They aren't fancy, kinda like Carhartt, inexpensive and get the job done. www.counciltool.com they do have a "premium" line if you're into that..

All this talk about the Rolex Submariner made me feel a little like I was missing something, so I got on ebay and found this one... It's a little more expensive than I wanted but I thought YOLO. What do you think? Buy it now is $10K. :ROFLMAO:

What's the best quality tool/duffel bag for throwing tools and gear in the back?

These two seem well regarded, but what's the best?

The best tool bag:

It’s on my list of stuff to buy. I have some of their other stuff and it is really the best (and indestructible my wallet which is horribly abused is 10 years old and I would normally kill a wallet every few years). Family that owns the company I believe had a 110 (with saddleback leather interior).

I am also considering something from Veto pro pac, but those are not as stylish. I hear good things. Waiting on my catalog to show up.

On the tune of wallets, I know a kevlar/sailcloth wallet isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I find these nearly indestructible.
I'm on my 2nd one (the first one lasted over 10 years and frankly could have probably gone another ~5) -> https://resails.com/product-category/categories/accessories/wallets/ They have brick and mortar stores in Annapolis and Newport RI as well.

The one I currently have is a bit different than the 3 displayed now, no velcro because I'm an adult and it folds lengthwise with card slots on both sides of the fold (with a cash pocket behind it).

I do no have their wallets as I am money clip from Ridge Wallet kind of person but I do have a toiletries bag from them. Great construction and looks brand new after almost 20 years.

I also have a few duffel bags from Ella Vickers.

Sail cloth stuff is just awesome.

I'd say the best duffle bags are from Patagonia, particularly the older Black Hole series. I have used them to haul climbing gear all over for decades.

Many different sizes. If it can haul a ton of ice climbing gear to Alaska, then it should work just fine for LR expedition use...

Agree. We have a lot of Patagonia bags in the family. Size, function and durability are all strong with them. And the prices are too bad either.

I have to say Patagonia make good products in a lot of areas. They seem overused in certain circles but I use their products in lesson known areas like surf trunks, rain gear, polo shirts. Their R stuff insulates great and isn't as ubiquitous as their puff layers (which work well too). Their hats fit my head perfectly but I won't wear one until I cover the Patagonia logo with another patch otherwise I will see 6 copies of it on other people around town haha

100% agree on those Patagucci bags. I have one of each size and I've taken mine all around the world. They've been on hundreds of plane rides, been tossed on the prickly, rocky desert ground and they're still hanging in there. When they finally give up the ghost, I'll mail them back to Patagonia and they'll give me brand new ones.

I had a Patagonia backpack for YEARS that never had a laptop specific sleeve. When it was finally wearing out I called the Dillon MT outlet to order a new backpack with a sleeve built-in.

P - "It sounds like you're unsatisfied with your current backpack, we'd like to make it right"
Me - "no, it was great, but its finally wearing out and I'd like to have a built-in laptop sleeve"
P - "Sir, if you're unhappy with your previous purchase, we'd love to send you the backpack you're looking at to replace it, if you're willing to send us back the one you have now"
Me - "umm ok, thank you!"

That was ~7 years ago and backpack #2 is going strong.
I love that company's overall customer service but especially their willingness to keep you as a customer.

I sent my rolling duffel bag back to them, requesting a patch of Cordura be sewn on the small hole that was opening up on the bottom. This, after six years of use as a field engineer, flying regularly. They didn't repair it (sadly), they just sent a gift card for the original purchase price and I went out and bought another, which I still use today.

Atlas 46 makes some pretty awesome tool rolls, bags, and packs. I have a socket roll and magnetic wrench roll. Overbuilt is about the best way to describe them.

Now you tell me, I just bought a Gedore belt set up after looking at a lot of options. This may have been obvious to everyone but me, but tool belts are so wide they don’t go through belt loops in pants at least the Klein belt I bought would not. When you think about it, it makes sense, you don’t want to take off your pants to drop your tools. Lol.
