Spy shot of new Defender

I'm surprised China hadn't reverse engineered a Defender long ago and called it the Rand Rover Refender and sell it online for $15,995. I'd buy one.

This actually made me laugh out loud. I am betting we'll get a "spy shot/reveal" of the new Defender in the ICON book coming out in July. Just a guess.

Cautiously optimistic....

This seems familiar though.

And although I can imagine that I would like this vehicle, I still wonder -- where is the Defender replacement? Truck bed option? Open rear space for modification and overlanding equipment? Proper roof rack options? Will the front and rear bumpers be removable without taking half of the existing body lines apart? Will there be an option for 16 inch wheels?

For those who don't want to be on FB.
Thanks for sharing A+G!

That shape is from a display that was behind McGovern when he was prattling on about arranging flowers or some such. Which is to say it's more official than any other jerk-off illustration on the interwebs.

Totally agree, if it's on an official display or publication it should be considered the real deal. Anything else is just a guess. Hints have been spread around for months from LR publications to new vehicle announcements.

More from A+G facebook:

The Velar came out pretty close to the teaser shape. If the Defender replacement is close to the teaser, then we may be ok. Or we can keep guessing and bitching like a bunch of old women when the bingo caller is changed.

So... which one is the Defender? Are we supposed to match the picture with the label?

Based on the last pictures it's on the right where it says Defender.
I agree the outline matches pretty close to the Velar as it was released so I'm optimistic. A lot more square and upright than the other current models.
