Other than actual sales figures, all we have are opinions.
My opinions on new Defender:
Is it what the Defender purist wanted? No.
I think it is more of a Discovery 5, as styling flows from LR4.
Park one next to an RRC and I can see the similarities.
Stellantis owns Jeep. They primarily are an auto group as seen below.
152B in revenue.
Tata Group owns JLR.
Tata is 34B revenue company, of which autos are a small part. Solar tech, home appliances, clothing, online pharmacy, grocery stores, major IT…
Here’s Tata’s offerings (Of which Tata auto seems aimed at their gigantic home market, and aimed at younger connected demographic. PS: Tata’s home market is ~1.4B people just in India.
Jeep basically has 5X revenue of specific auto dollars behind them, and a truly global market. Is it any wonder their research and marketing is stronger? Pretty much anyone in the decision chain works for a CAR company, where Tata food chain work for a relatively small global conglomerate.
As I said, all opinion based. I can only hope they will listen to enthusiasts.
By the way, did the NY hedge manager, the Miami-Dade soccer mom, and the Minnesota neurologist all get the same invite to input? Cause that is who is buying new JLR, not us busted knuckles idjits.
