Bid high, pay quickly, and perhaps you’ll get your CARB letter before you transfer the title to your name...

That is the Kracken 9000 air filtration system. You step on the gas pedal and it releases the kracken.

If we were still in the age of film cameras I think the cost of film would surpass the value of the vehicle.

And he has a website. www.thealpineelement.com

I mean, what is that carburetor even? It looks like a dual carb manifold that has been machined down to accept that home market POS. The first service will involve an Edelbrock replacement, if the engine is worth saving.

Is this supposed to be some kind of ”beautiful decrepitude” art shot? Because it looks like a broken down Supra on an un-mowed verge next to a dilapidated barn on a cloudy day. Photographers talk about the “magic hour” right after sunrise and before sunset when the light is perfect. This looks like 11:47 AM on the way to Dunkin’ Donuts.

I try not to make a point of fanning negativity and hating on other people’s stuff just to feel superior, but this guy constantly and shamelessly oversells the obvious crap he’s pushing and he’s got a group of cronies who participate in the hype. The people getting these vehicles are being swindled.

Another half-assed body+on refurbishment characterized as a “six figure restoration” by this seller. Random rivets, painted seals, and who knows what else. Also, the turbo piping is weird, looks like a replacement engine out of a tdi disco.

Speaking of Alpine Element, I mentioned a few months ago this showed up at the barn where my daughter rides horses, the buyer forced him to take it back and sell it again. Haven't seen it come up again though.

What was really wrong with it? I remember you mentioning it wasn’t so great in person.

Love it.... snorkel, but it has a home made coffee can under the hood air filter.

I'm hoping the drivers door is ajar in this photo.... but it looks like it's closed along the B pilar. Could be a bit of a water ingress issue....

The seller's replies are pretty wiggly and dodgy. It's a bling ca-ching strategy. The BAT bidders are def buying it. BAT auctions on the other cars I watch tend to be pretty savvy, since sincere/knowledgeable comments help keep the process more honest. Shill comments create enough doubt that the bidders end up just relying on how shiny it is.

When I looked at it the entire engine bay was covered in oil. If they did a headgasket it wasn't done well. The quality of the entire thing was just very poor. The overall quality was just poor. It wasn't a terrible truck if you undid a lot of the bolt on junk, but it wasn't worth what was paid for it.
So a better truck for $18k than $50k? Thanks for the reply.

I really don’t understand the appeal of this guy’s zombie-apocalypse defenders. He’s getting a lot of love and has had a good run on BaT though.

And how does the winner deserve props for a “great buy” when he bid a no reserve auction up by 25k in one shot?

Yep, same here, I really don't understand that everybody is speaking so greatly about this seller and his turkish cars. Okay, the paint is shiny, but a little trained eye will see sooo much wrong with these cars. But still they are fetching more than a well built low mileage 110 5 door. Beats me.

I still think that money laundering is the center of this Turkish defender scam. It just doesn’t add up, and it doesn’t help that fan-boys who fancy themselves as experts keep knob polishing. BaT censors comments that are remotely critical.

Sure wish I had stocked-up on 130 hi-cap beds for all the people who will be looking for one to replace the stupid locally manufactured square box.

I've been away from Defenders for a year or two. I am stunned by the amount of trash still selling for big money... I figured that would have died off by now.

Anyone ever figure out who that turd WAGONBOYTD is yet? That guy has no idea wtf he is talking about
