I think that this vehicle is going to prove that Gerry McGovern is a putz.

Exactly. Just looking at these few images makes you wonder what in the world have Land Rover been doing all these years? Why doesn't the new Defender have a soft top? Tweak this Bronco just a bit to make the lines and the lights a little more "Roverish" and you have what should have been the New Defender that everyone, for years, had been hoping for, knew could be done, but knew wouldn't be done because Rover.

I am liking this more and more. I might just be a customer. The Nufender does nothing for me even if I disregard the heritage. The Bronco appeals to me as a new car. I think it looks good, if this is it, they did a good job on the design.

The Raptor version looks pretty good but neither truck really has a wow factor. IMO price point, cost of ownership and reliability will be the winner...I'm giving the edge to Ford.

There will be a hybrid variant of the Bronco, so we'll be able to compare range between it and the Nufender

They may not offer it with big engines in order to meet mpg spec requirements but it would be brilliant if they configured it such that a crate engine plug-n-play could be done and supported aftermarket.

Ford wins, the Nufender is irrelavent at this point, it sort of always was..
After watching the launch video pretty impressive. Ford dealer network along with decent pricing after the newness wears off means a very worthwhile vehicle. I will for sure be visiting my local Ford dealer which is a hell of a lot closer than the Landy one.

This has the be the death of the new Defender Pretender. The LR was a total let-down and the new Bronco looks very promising. A little bummed to see IFS but who knows, maybe they will do a solid axle trail version a la Rubicon down the line.

I feel certain there will be an aftermarket SAS.

IFS isnt the end of the world, Land Rover hasnt had a solid axle in over a decade. Gerry has to be worried about this one, I expect a lot of manufacturers are. It will be interesting to see the shortcomings once it's been out for a bit. I get a little of the poor visibility FJ Cruiser vibe, we will see (no pun intended).

Only good news for Jeep as well......First deliveries of the Bronco are scheduled for a year down the road.
With everything from 1.5 Eco to 2.7 Eco, this thing goes from mild to wild. The four door is bound to be the most popular body style, but you can't get the four door with stick shift.

Honestly, did we really ever think the New one was going to be a massive hit? Land Rover has become a fickle handbag designer and pretty obvious they never aspired to be what they once were.

unfortunately you can't get the larger engine without the auto, no thanks.
Ah yes, manual vs auto debate.
Driving a manual is agreed much more fun.
However a turbo engines work better with an auto as well as some would say better off-road.
Certainly not a deal breaker for me yet can see why it could be for some.
Of course one needs to see / drive the new kid on the block yet looking pretty good so far.

Land Rover’s attempt with the Defender now looks like a joke. I’m not completely done with it as a Discovery/family camper type of thing. And if the reliability is good, maybe it will survive. But between the Grenadier, GWagen, Jeep, Bronco, and the rumors that the new Toyota is going after the Jeep market; Land Rover has officially given over the crown of being the standard for what people think of when they think of an over lander, explorer, Africa camping vehicle. It seems so un-innovative, and uninspired compared to the rest.

I kind of like the Bronco, but really don’t like the look with the top off. Looks like a kid’s Hotwheels drawing. Makes it immediately clear that the people driving that will have their stereos playing while camping.

In the end, it will be yet another proof of how wrong Land Rover was about the market.
