Complete with paw prints. I'm thinking of replacing mine. Mine is in rough shape
I was waiting for someone to notice. My Colleague got a dog that comes to the shop every day.

Awesome. Any more details? Are you keeping it RHD?

Keeping it RHD for now. Stripping it down and galvanizing everything I can, fully rebuilt drivetrain(250tdi, r380, 1.4, 4 pin diffs) and trying to not spend as much as I did on the last one. Plan is RAF blue, no top for the summer, and truck cab for the fall/winter.

We'll see though, I see lots of shiny stuff at work every day.

Im not sure I could own a Defender without a Husky setup haha. Currently rebuilding one for the build, and working with our fabricator in Maine for a batch of Husky bumpers.

I finished up some projects today. The smaller one was installing a spigot for my water tank. I recently removed the NAS style step bumper and routed the hose through the Jack point in the rear crossmember. I have ordered a cap for it on Amazon to keep it clean when driving.

The next project was getting the aux tank. A shop in Florida really hacked up the chassis to install a plastic fuel tank. If you’ve been following along in this thread, you’d see that I’ve repaired the chassis to add the mounts for the steel tank. Today I finally got both tanks back in the truck. View attachment 29142

I routed the balance pipe through the sway bar bracket and P clipped it in place so it doesn’t rub against the bracket.
I couldn’t stand having the aux fuel feed entering through the bottom of my tank—particularly here in the Rocky Mountains. Kept envisioning shearing it and losing all my fuel. Tig welded an -AN line bung in and rerouted.

Is that a 200Tdi with a 300 head? No MT82 this time? And most expensive question of all.. Genuine hardware?
200block, 300 pistons, 300 head, 300 turbo, 200 front cover/ancillaries. Basically asked one of our suppliers for a 200tdi and he opened up his trenchcoat and pulled this abomination out 😄
No mt82 this time unfortunately, will miss that the most.
As far as hardware, I just sent a paycheck over to belmetric for a ton of zinc coated hardware, between that & the YRM kits hopefully can avoid genuine hardware haha

I give Belmetric hundreds a year. it’s my most frequent charity. In exchange for my patronage, they send me nuts. Loads of nuts. (((and a few bolts and washers…. I collect the full set!)
haha, i have several hundred in this year and was at least hoping for one of their beanies...maybe several more hundred in 2024

I finally mounted the license plate holder ive been working on this week. cant believe "drill into tailgate" was the official LR method for hicaps. ill add some bumpers but it floats about an inch out from the tailgate now.

One time I forgot to add a couple of bolts to a belmetric order, so I decided to call to see if they could add them to my order before it shipped. The woman on the phone was like “wow, you’ve spent a lot with us, we’ll just throw them in for free”

I’ll have to look in quickbooks to see what I’ve spent, but I’m sure it’s several thousand (business use).

I am frugal, not cheap. And I make sure I use good bolts that do what they are supposed to. Some ACE Hardware (or Lowes, granger…) is CRAP! Being frugal, here is my system and it works great for me. I buy Harbor Freight IP65 divided containers, and break off both side clasps leaving just the front. Then I get common sizes that I use typically on hand and pay attention to upcoming projects (like sill bolts) and get extra close to project. I typically get 8.8 for my small stuff and 10.9 for all else unless I need to go higher and those are few and far between. I need washers, split washers, fender washers, some thick & grade 10 washers. Nuts, nylons and flanged nuts for some. Each in a single bin by diamerter.

way more space friendly than bolt bins. Just what I do.

I work on my collector cars a lot and usually have a lot of hardware bench stock on hand. I hate going to the hardware store for one bolt, and I usually use new hardware on everything I take apart. I found these trays that are larger, and do not have the removable sections. I have had trouble with the movable ones coming out when trying to grab a nut or washer. I have several of these for nuts, bolts, washers, stainless, plastic trim rivets, etc. It is a bit of a monetary investment, but it saves a lot of aggravation when reassembling.
