What have you done to your DEFENDER today?

Replaced the worn and beat up boots from the track bar links. Much better now. Daily driving it and enjoying it, yet, still thinking about selling it. šŸ˜

Pulled the dash apart to swap out the wired only "CarlinKit" (Android Auto/Apple Carplay) adapter for the newer one that adds wireless both (without giving up wired via USB). I have it installed behind the muduk console then hooked up in-line to the dashboard USB port. If anybody wants the old one that gives any Android radio the ability to run wired AA/carplay just let me know and its yours, ill pay for shipping too.
Link to the new one if you had an Android head unit and want to add this. Ask me questions if you're interested in this tweak for Android radios as there's a trick to getting the .apk file on the radio side to install/update! (Krazy glue was for the plastic tab on one of the LED backlights that I broke)

Added an extra power delivery/USB-C outlet for the middle row on a dedicated circuit (ignition switched but also a toggle in the front in case they leave their seat heaters on) shared with the now hardwired GMRS radio. Trying to get as much as possible off of the ciggy lighter powered power bank thing.

Drove back home to NY this past weekend. MPGs dropped from the last trip but I know itā€™s from a sticking injector. Other than that kept her steady at 65+ with plenty of power left for passing if need be. The OM617 is not a bad motor, although I wish the torque was greater at 2400rpm. Other than the ā€œaverageā€ oil leaks, no complaints. Daily driving this biatch steady as she goes šŸ¤™šŸ½

I finished up some projects today. The smaller one was installing a spigot for my water tank. I recently removed the NAS style step bumper and routed the hose through the Jack point in the rear crossmember. I have ordered a cap for it on Amazon to keep it clean when driving.

The next project was getting the aux tank. A shop in Florida really hacked up the chassis to install a plastic fuel tank. If youā€™ve been following along in this thread, youā€™d see that Iā€™ve repaired the chassis to add the mounts for the steel tank. Today I finally got both tanks back in the truck.

I routed the balance pipe through the sway bar bracket and P clipped it in place so it doesnā€™t rub against the bracket.

Per our shop policy I didnā€™t notice that the welder ground point had been left unpainted until the project is done (Iā€™ve done this countless times).

Getting this project done is a huge relief. It has cost so much money and time to make all of this work due to previous modifications and rear tub differences. Very happy to be done with it.

Changing all of the fluids on my D90 - today the r380 got some new red line sauce.

Thoughts on the metal shavings? Typical/ excessive?

73,000 mi on this unit.

Are there any chunks of metal on that magnet or is it all like etch a sketch when you wipe the magnet off?

Seems like a lot of metal particles but who knows how long the last oil change was, so if theres no chunks, change the fluid and don't worry about it.

No chunks whatsoever, the magnet attached to the drain plug is rather powerful and makes the fine particulars look like spikes chunks (definitely raised an eyebrow when I first looked). On the shop rag it is very fine "etch-a-sketch" dust.

- The truck has a solid maintenance history, could possibly be the first time it was changed - who knows...

Left it out for the last 2 days in this monsoon we're getting up here. I thought it would be good to test the water tightness. Happy to report that the sunroof is tight, the only water in the truck I found seems to have pushed in via the corners of 2 different doors where the gaskets transition, and a spot under the pass front door check (possibly weeping around the windscreen BH gasket end?) The wind has been crazy here, I'm chalking it up to the whipping wind helping.

Ordered my 3rd speedo cable, after further review I believe the transition into the bulkhead was too tight both times, need to give it a bigger pop up top. And, replaced my 3rd alt belt.. found a bend inwards on the pulley that my guess was wearing down the belt in quick fashion. fixed. All that in first 400 miles of shake down driving. Happy to report other than that it it's been flawless.

Just like @jymmiejamz I drained all the water out of the Defender from yesterdayā€™s storm on the east Coast. Three Plus inches of rain plus gusts up to 90mphā€¦though Logan only recorded gusts to 54knotsā€¦
