What have you done to your DEFENDER today?

Ron good. :) I cleaned out the garage and made it worse. Haha. I work on gravel anyway. Gets me sunlight. Anyone want to lease a dormobile roof? I have all sorts of new parts and a 110 roof already cut for it to go on. Or if you have a running driving 109 or 110 you want to sell me @WreckITFrank says I can’t remove the cage to put it on the new 110.

Sometimes when I come to this site I feel like I'm at a bar totally wasted and lean over to my wife and say, "at least I'm not THAT guy."

To which she reminds me that I pay monthly storage fees for partsura obscura.

Getting a Defender for a decent price allows those of us with no common sense the ability to justify equalizing the average price with accessories... heated Scheel Manns installed, but opened Pandora's Box as I no longer have any leg room. A reduction in the bulkhead height is now in order.

Went with G-Wagen cloth centers, as (1) being a Land Rover enthusiast, I am unlikely to buy a G-Wagen (as much as I am keen on the Europa imports); and (2) it matches the Defender motif rather perfectly.

Thanks, all! They are quite fine, but as mentioned, a little tight with the full bulkhead in place.

While I need more leg room for the new seats, I have concerns over the rigidity without having the hardtop in place... you may recall that I have the Safety Devices cage and can't remember if there's interference with the Bearmach or Britpart kits or if removal altogether compromises flex. Wondering if they are even necessary? Lopping the top 6" of the bulkhead should get me about the same distance of the OEM seats.

I once had a Saab convertible - supposedly unique in that the entire body was built around the premise of it being a convertible (i.e. instead of just hacking off the roof and cleaning up the trim). I sold it within 1,000 miles, as it twisted more than Chubby Checker. I don't want to feel that again!

Are your seats narrow enough to clear the sides on that to recline more?

Yes, but it'd be close. The Speedlines are narrower and intended for Defenders (it has the lift-up seat bottom). Still, I've opted for the full removal kit to get as much legroom as I can without putting the seats at risk of wear/tear by being pressed against the rail or edge of the reduction kit.

Successful electric FP/prefilter bracket mock-up! Dismantle and paint brackets. Remove fuel tank so I can do a through pressure wash before touching up Waxoyl.

Vapor blaster did beautiful job on water pump housing I have off for the leaking P-gasket. I think I'm going to have it anodized because it looks so pretty.

Nice stance! Looks straight, too. Planning a respray in white?

I got to see a 2015 or so Defender 110 in person in Fuji White. Seriously tempted to redo my Alpine in that color as it looks really fresh and current, while not too far from original. I feel that Yulong (the color of my LR4 and now on my '22 110) is a little too 'current' for a real Defender.
I always thought I'd re-paint my truck Corris Grey, until I saw it parked to a truly white truck. Now I really love Alpine white.

Fuji white(AKA New take off White) is a little too bright for me, Alpine is perfect. Fuji looks great on late model Defenders though

I agree on a defender. My Audi is closer to Fuji white. When I bought my second defender, I preferenced Alpine over Fuji and that is what I ended up with. So both D's are Alpine. Still don't quite match, but that is probably just environmental/oxidation.

My 110 is Fuji White. I definitely prefer it over the original Alpine White. For me the Alpine White always looked dirty.

And that is exactly how I feel about my Audis! I like them bright white. I can't tell you how many hours I spent debating between Fuji and Alpine when I painted my D90 back in the early 2000 era. Hardest choice I ever had, and certainly no wrong answer there!! It originally was Arles blue---which at the time, I was not so into. It may very well end up Arles again some day as that one really grew on me. However, even now I chose Alpine (or Fuji) over Arles...for now....

No wrong answers when it comes to color! Beauty is always for the beholder and not for the object :)

Agreed! White seems to be an especially interesting color in terms of variances... I guess you could say the same about all colors, but the Audi comments by @MountainD immediately bring me back to the late '80s, when Audi offered a $750 upcharge for "Pearl White" (all other Audi colors were included in the price). Wasn't my bag and it seemed like a LOT OF MONEY to spend on a different shade. Funny how far the dollar doesn't go then or now.

I just remembered that my first NAS sightings were both Alpine... the NAS110 at the '92 Rovers North Rally and then an NAS90 at Foreign Motors West in Natick, MA in the winter of '93-'94. The color just looks "right" to me. But, then I saw a 2016 Defender 90 in Fuji (when I owned a 2016 LR4 in Yulong White) and was gaga. I have no idea what my point is, but modern LRs look good to me in "different" whites (my '22 Defender is also Yulong), while more vintage ones look great in Alpine. Thanks for humoring my ramblings...
