Welcome to NAS-ROW

Is anybody close to the Alloy+Grit guys? I'm wondering if there's a possibility to get some sort of mention there about NAS-ROW.

We're trying really hard to make N-R a success but we need more traction. It's going to take a lot more than Facebook posts to spread awareness of the site to the casual users of D90. These are the folks that primarily find sites from Google searches and we just don't have high enough prominence there yet.

I'm interested in your ideas and help to spread the word.

Chris

Steve and Dan are both good guys. I can tell you that screen shot of your comment has been passed around in many places.

I still stand by it. The A+G post felt wrong at the time. Nobody knew who they were and they showed up with an advertisement for their first post. That's not good forum etiquette. Things got cleared up later in the thread and Steve asked me before posting more links and I gave him the go-ahead. If Steve or others want to pass my post around without context and don't want to help spread the word about this non-commercial forum, that's their prerogative, I guess. Nobody seemed to have any qualms about posting on (free) DWeb about a commercial venture.

Are you getting server errors and slow page loads? I think I know what's up.

Yeah, I can't even remotely read a whole page of posts without it reloading on my mobile for some unknown error. And that's after I can't read the first post on a page because the new super duper expanding advertisement covers it up.

I'm fine with them making money off it, but I'm also over here as well.

Someone asked me about commercialism on the board. Our stance on commercialism here has been a little murky so I am going to clarify:

*We* (Dave and I, the NAS-ROW co-founders) are not commercial. We're just two guys running the forum as a hobby. We most definitely allow commercialism on the board but we won't take money from vendors and we won't confer any special privileges or access on vendors. Vendors can participate but play on a level playing field with everyone else. We will also never, ever run any advertisements, stickied posts, or other paid placements from anybody.

We welcome vendors and look forward to seeing y'all participate.

Is there any rule about how closely related a vendor has to be? For example on another site, Rock Auto popped up just before Christmas to advertise their sale. Last I looked, Rock Auto didn't carry Defender parts. While a great company for other vehicles, not very fitting for the potential clients.

Maybe that isn't the best example. I guess the question should be, is there a line, and where is it?

Plenty of Nas Land Rover parts on Rock auto. But you're only looking at parts like ignition, filters that are available from US sources.
none of the bearmach/britpart stuff.

Rock Auto does carry wear items for pretty much all Land Rovers. They always post up with a 10% discount so I have no problem with them. If it was somebody selling women handbags, yes that won't fly but nothing is set in stone. If something crops up and it doesn't pass the smell test, flag it and we can discuss it.
