Tool Deals Thread

Ok, I will try the one in the Gedore red kit first. They are big bits and there is also a 1/2 and 3/8 bit holders.

Almost done with the hoarding. Mainly waiting on stuff to show up from .de, mister worker, Chadstoolbox, and non-prime amazon.

Unless you're using bits on a job site every day, regular bits will work just fine in an impact. I've abused the hell out of all kinds of bits with impacts and never had one shear due to fatigue. Worst case, you buy another bit, which in the context of your German tool binge, shouldn't be too painful.
I used chrome ones just about every day for 12 years and didn’t break very many. They are all warrantied with snap on anyway. Probably not great if you are waiting to get another one from Europe

And we now know why the shipping on this one was so much ....

I am not sure which is worse, shipping this in a giant box, or shipping the socket set with no box. I agreed to pay the shipping (it was like 15 euro more when I added it) so I can’t complain.

In other shipping funny stuff, I figured out the reason why the Heuer 180 vise would not ship, but the Heuer 160 vise would ship (and why sometimes adding this is stupid expensive). There is a 60lb cut off for DHL. The 180 is 61lbs, the 160 is 59lbs. :)

I am a big fan of the 916hpl. Hazet makes an extendable 1/2 ratchet, the 916hpgl, but I never really liked that style. If I need that much leverage I am grabbing a breaker bar. The 916 1/2 ratchet line is rated to 1000nm so I am sure even the extendable one will hold, but the 916hpl is a size I would actually actually use.

The 916hpl with the 1/4 (863hp) 3/8 (8816hp), 1/2 (916hp) in front of my favorite 190L-1 tote. I can wait for the flex head 3/8 to come out (and or my Stahlwille long flex head to arrive from misterworker).

So I am not done hoarding. I need a less expensive nighttime experience. It’s ok though, I did not buy another car this year.

So if anyone is looking for a Stahlwille deal (and does not want to wait for .de shipping) KCTool has some advent calendars left over that they are discounting 40% and selling as complete kits.

It is the 80 tooth 1/4 ratchet, a ratcheting stubby bit holder, 12 point sockets, and some magnet thing for $120.

the 10% off coupon does not work on sales, but a 1/4 set on de is the same money and they are six point sockets (I already have a ton of 6 point and this goes with the 3/8 12 point stahlwille set I have) and don’t have the add ons.

@JimC do you have the Facom rotating ratchets? That was going to be my gateway tool.

Thus far I have avoided buying Facom (or Beta,) but the drug dealers at .de keep showing me them.

I have two of those rotating ratchets, they are sometimes the ideal thing to start or remove a fastener. I never posted them here because I‘ve never seen one that I could consider a “deal.”

maybe Amazon.fr?

De has them, or had the 1/2 and has the 3/8

Prices are in USD but including VAT and before shipping (should be $20 to get them both). not sure what they normally go for. My Stahlwille flexhead 3/8 long comfortgrip shipped from misterworker in Italy today. I am hoping that ends up as my primary 3/8. If I like it, I will get the 1/2 and 1/4 too.

This is a link that should bring up the Facom sets. Not sure what they normally go for (I do not need Facom tools I need to keep telling myself). I am now on a Proxxon and Gedore red budget :) I was talking to one of my co-workers who bought a watch, he was like what did you buy? I told him German tools. :)

PS don’t ask @WreckITFrank about my electrical tools binge (he knows what’s up with electrical tools so I even bought a bunch of Klein stuff with his encouragement — I should have listened and gotten a Klein not Ideal romex stripper but the Ideal is still nice). Set should be 99% here by Friday (Knipex cable knife is coming from .de).

Aright, I'll add the tools that I wish I still had.....
Lost to the life of parents divorce, two or three moves before I left the UK.
A simple screwdriver set that was sold in England by Tandy... something of a Radio Shack like place. Three flat screwdrivers, three Philips, an Awl, and a pick, plus a cover that make the small handle size actually usable all contained in a neat plastic container.... One of those go to tools that I wish I still had.

Here is an actual deal:

If you buy a bag, you get a free pouch bag thing. I can’t say that I have deciphered the promotion because I can’t figure out which bag is which based on the and what one I want, but I only started at midnight when I got done working. I have heard good things and their reviews are glowing. I ordered a catalog since they don’t have a pdf of it. I bought some cheap amazon bags (like $12 and $17), but these seem to blow them out of the water.

One other one that I did not realize I needed until I saw it and bought it is the EZRed neck light. The tool truck brands resell them, but you can get them for $26 for the non-rechargeable type (I always forget to charge stuff and AA batteries are cheap). For those who have been to the evilfij garage, it does not have power so I operate by headlamp and I tend to work at night. These are great! And you don’t blind people when you look at them.

Speaking of lost tools, if anyone has a spare craftsman 13mm 6 point USA made wrench and wants to sell it (or trade for something) it’s really getting to my OCD that I have lost it. Every other tool I still have or know what happened to it. Yes, even all my 10mm sockets.

and if anyone is feeling particularly spritely ....

I think I have one that I will give you to if I haven’t thrown it out already. I had a bunch of those older Craftsman 6 Pt wrenches that were in my box when i bought it. I might have tossed all of them, but if I haven’t, they’re yours.

That would be awesome. Please let DM me and let me know. I will send you something better, I got them 25 years ago, so there is some attachment.
