Range Rover Classic Frame Swap

Of the all the RRC's we parted out in the UK to made tray backs (back in the 80's) and the three I have owned over here, I have only seen the goal posts on two that rotted out.
Thought I knew Rangies well yet are the goal posts to which you refer? Thx

In the days when you could un-bolt the body completely before they welded them up.

Does anyone make a Range Rover classic chassis? I see disco 2’s, defenders and series but no Range Rover. I would imagine there is a market given their value these days.
A Disco frame works just fine. Only difference on the 95 Classic chassis and the Disco are the body mounts. Older classic frames have the square crossmember with the leveling bracket. The 95s are tube crossmembers.

My buddy finished the Rear Bumper for the classic last week. It started as a RTE design, but he tweaked how it was mounted to the frame. Three Bolts through a piece of Angle Iron welded to the Frame vs the two stock location mounts. Very happy with the result.

Unfortunately the Truck had a Tapping Sound that would appear when it was warm. It showed up after Doing the Heads and Installing a new Cam. I've chasing the sound by changing Lifters and Lower Bearings to see if there was any improvement. Found out Sunday it was the Connecting Rod at the Piston was going.

Ouch.
Having lost two engines to zero oil pressure in the past, I am paranoid about engine tapping sounds.
Bizarrely, a bad bearing on the ZF steering pump can make exactly the same sound as a bad rod bearing.

The bearings were replaced recently. The Rod Sheared at the Pin and decided to punch its way out of the motor. I was convinced the tapping was coming from the Bellhousing after I had replaced everything else. I had enough oil pressure that it sent all the oil out of the block on the side of the road. the only fluid in the pan when i drained it was coolant. The Wrist pin was sitting in the pan with most of the motor.

I think Richard's chassis in the UK does. I was looking when I still had money. Late 80s Classics last much better than mid 90s ones. once BMW took over the quality hot the floor, so you don't see as many 91-93 as you do 80s and our soft dash is a bit of a rot-box:cry:

Thought BMW influenced the P38 not the Classics at least in the US. My ‘94 RRC chassis is still rust free though.

That's just....inaccurate, BMW didnt even buy them til 94? We have many more 92-95 RRCs here than we do 87-91

Thanks, Will has been my supplier for a lot of this project. I bought a 3.9 block off a friend locally had a machine shop go through it and install new pistons. He had a 4.2 for the same money and I don't know why I didn't grab it. Ran the same wedge shop Cam as before. Now that Im through the breaking period (500 Miles) im starting to see some massive improvement in power. Still dialing in the timing with the DUI dizzy (10-12 btdc). Cruises at 75-80 without issue rolling on 255s and all the armor.

Riding on the Hwy im convinced I need to put Cats back in the exhaust. The exhaust smell is pretty overwhelming. Plus my idle is pretty erratic at times. I think I need to replace the original injectors. They are still original.
