My truck is here!

I posted this "elsewhere" but wanted to add here as well. I'll add to the registry once I get a chance to take some good photos of my own.

Tom Macer (The Virginia Land Rover Company) found this for me and refurbed it per my request. Its a 1991 200tdi which is basically stock other than the custom rear door/gate that I asked Tom to do so that I can go topless in the summer and a Mantec tire carrier. Went with Exmoor "techno" seats and their seat heaters (which get HOT fyi) as well along with the Exmoor sound deadening system.

I've been impressed by the 200tdi. I don't have any other trucks to compare it to, but it scoots around town just fine and while I haven't driven it much, I did take it up and down some hills on a 55mph road during the drive home and it did just fine in 5th gear the entire time.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated.

I don't really plan to change anything on the exterior. I had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted and I think it turned out pretty darned well - I'm glad others think so too :)

eventually I want to freshen up the dash a bit (not modernize - its just a little tired after 25 years) but otherwise, visually I think its about complete. I did ask Tom to put Mud pods in the back for stereo speakers - I need to get some stuff ordered and probably build a mount in the center console for the head unit as I don't really want to have a modern head unit visible in the dash.

So much needed to make that truck right...

like gallons of fuel, and thousands of miles of good times on the odometer. Drive, destroy, rebuild, repeat. Welcome to the sickness.

I haven't been able to drive the truck much yet - but just around my neighborhood its been interesting. Some people are excited and have at least some idea what it is or are interested in what it is (normal). Some don't seem to notice at all (which, based on the other "abnormal" cars I've had, is also normal) - but some people have been straight up glaring at me - I can only assume that they don't know what to make of the RHD...

Pull the top? Are you thinking of top on, top off use like a convertible?

You're in for a world of leaks once the top goes back on.. just sayin'.

Although it's not too difficult to remove the top, once you do the integrity of the seals are done.

yup. Basically planning to pull the top in the summer and just drive on nice days - it'll be going back on before my beach trip in September. If I need a new set of rubber seals once a year, I don't think that's a huge deal.
