It starts fine. Wow, what a mess. Any thoughts Jimmy on what else makes sense to do to get this thing in neutral?Does it start? If it does, I doubt the battery is the issue. You probably would be wise to replace the battery based on age though.
Had to dolly her to the shop. The dissection begins Monday hopefully. It’s pretty insane how backed up all the shops are in my area right now. I was lucky to get it in even this quickly. Meantime my wife drives the 90 and only slightly annoyed it’s still muddy from the last set of trails. She’ll survive.Get’er figured out?
Exactly. They cleared the codes(?) but that lasted about two days.Yeah, the secondary battery will definitely not cause that. Was the shifter raising but not rotating?
Yeah that doesn’t sound ideal, the shifter was designed to shift thousands of times. Not using it and forcing the computer to do it likely forced an internal programming error. Just use the thing as intended.Replaced the shifter assembly and hoping this holds and isn't a control module of some sort buried somewhere. Let me know if anyone thinks our driving habit could be the cause. When we park we come to a full stop and turn off the car with foot on the brake. The shifter automatically moves the trans from Drive to Park. My thought was this would be less forceful on the shifter than manually moving it. Things do wear and tear but this is an 85K truck that my wife daily drives and we use on longer distance 3-5 hour trips on a monthly basis. Hardly what I would consider harsh use.
It came as a shock, that’s for sure. If you’d see this vehicle you might swear it’s maybe two years old. It’s seen nothing other than parkways and highways. I hand wash it and change the oil because I like to. Dealer mentioned in passing that it has all the old style coolant hoses. So that in the back of my mind now. These hoses split and have been the root cause of two good friend’s engines to completely shit the bed. I like to take care of and keep my cars. This one is a different challenge. This is worse that my Brother’s 2015 LR4/Diesel discovery 4. It would drive great then enter limp home mode. Restarting got him another 50 miles towards his place in Switzerland.
Dealer diagnosed a defective accelerator pedal… $2k
