Have a rotary shifter in the ‘16 LR4 that’s stuck in Park. Any thoughts on how to manually move to Neutral so I can have it flatbeded?

I may be screwed. Pull the cord but N is blinking and warning message on dash says “Gearbox in Park”. Truck won’t budge.

I think ur right. Once last possible trick is the battery is 5 1/2 years old so I’m going to try swapping in a new batter to see if that is if any help.

Does it start? If it does, I doubt the battery is the issue. You probably would be wise to replace the battery based on age though.

It starts fine. Wow, what a mess. Any thoughts Jimmy on what else makes sense to do to get this thing in neutral?

Get’er figured out?
Had to dolly her to the shop. The dissection begins Monday hopefully. It’s pretty insane how backed up all the shops are in my area right now. I was lucky to get it in even this quickly. Meantime my wife drives the 90 and only slightly annoyed it’s still muddy from the last set of trails. She’ll survive.

Got a call from the dealer. They found fault codes, even though there were no faults displayed, and suggested it was due to the ECO battery that was dead and suggested I replace the ECO battery at $500 and see if the faults go away. I said, well the ECO battery has been out for about 30 months now so can we just try to reset the codes? Codes were reset and the fault didn’t come back. So who knows? Not a warm and cozy feeling that this can strand us again anytime now.

Yeah, the secondary battery will definitely not cause that. Was the shifter raising but not rotating?

Replaced the shifter assembly and hoping this holds and isn't a control module of some sort buried somewhere. Let me know if anyone thinks our driving habit could be the cause. When we park we come to a full stop and turn off the car with foot on the brake. The shifter automatically moves the trans from Drive to Park. My thought was this would be less forceful on the shifter than manually moving it. Things do wear and tear but this is an 85K truck that my wife daily drives and we use on longer distance 3-5 hour trips on a monthly basis. Hardly what I would consider harsh use.

Yeah that doesn’t sound ideal, the shifter was designed to shift thousands of times. Not using it and forcing the computer to do it likely forced an internal programming error. Just use the thing as intended.

This is worse that my Brother’s 2015 LR4/Diesel discovery 4. It would drive great then enter limp home mode. Restarting got him another 50 miles towards his place in Switzerland.
Dealer diagnosed a defective accelerator pedal… $2k

It came as a shock, that’s for sure. If you’d see this vehicle you might swear it’s maybe two years old. It’s seen nothing other than parkways and highways. I hand wash it and change the oil because I like to. Dealer mentioned in passing that it has all the old style coolant hoses. So that in the back of my mind now. These hoses split and have been the root cause of two good friend’s engines to completely shit the bed. I like to take care of and keep my cars. This one is a different challenge.
