I have not seen an official email on the service centers but the map has the local entities listed.

The CO site is a used car lot. I am not getting a warm fuzzy feeling. The Houston site is an Enterprise car rental shop.

About a 35 minute drive so not so bad for me.

5 hour drive north or south to the two nearest service centers for me, which is unfortunately also one of the same reasons I wont own a newer Land Rover again. The service center up north is a Ferrari / Maserati dealer - not really where I'd want to go for a vehicle that's supposed to buck the luxury SUV trend. The one down south only has a "Coming soon" type website.

I want to be honest, I am in Houston.

EVERYTHING is a bit of a drive.

I spoke to the local Dealer Rep today (Vinny), and am super Happy about progress.

All Good On The Texas Front.....

I spoke to the Carolinas dealer yesterday. Despite the site having no “in production” on my account he told me I have a VIN and it’ll be here in December. So that was good news. Also told me there will be no dealer markups.

Just had my phone call. They said Mid Sept build start and no updates on transit time. They are working on service questions as it is a ways away from Denver. They are working through financing and insurance options. The group is supposed to have demo vehicles for test drives mid Oct.

I just found out I have a VIN so no changes. ETA is Dec/Jan.
Philly area dealer has over 500 preorders, and currently 70 w/ a vin.
He said Ineos is cranking out about 10/hour

Looking at Grenadier owners forums, there seems to be a lot of discussion about waiting on "software updates" and having their truck in to the dealer for repeated service. Has anyone seen any published reports on issues?

This is my concern with the dealer being so far away from my home.

Just saw on the Gren forum that the 2024 models will have lane keep assist, emergency braking, speed limit sign recognition & adaptive cruise. Hoping that the NAS models are 2024 spec because that means I basically get all of that for free. Either way I’m pumped to get the truck in Nov/Dec. Think I’ll be welcome at RAW in March with the spiritual Defender replacement or will I have to tow the 110 there to get pass the bouncer?

The Autocar article is a good one.
Odd they don't mention payload.
Mpg is in Imperial gallons. Even on the hiway, looks like the Gren will be in the teens here.
The 130 crewcab doesn't get an increase in payload over station wagon.
On road steering has been mentioned before as a shortcoming.
They say outright there's nothing currently in production to compare it to.
Sounds pretty much like what's been expected and looked forward to.

Why do you think the Grenadier is rated for 14-15 mpg? I thought the BMW engine was fairly fuel efficient. The X7 with the same engine is rated 21 mpg city / 25 mpg highway and it has a similar weight (maybe a few hundred pounds more for the Gren). Even the Cullinan with the V12 is rated 20 mpg highway. It will be interesting to see real-world results. Maybe the EPA figures are underrated.

I think they should have given it a hybrid powertrain. All it needs is an electric motor between the engine and transmission with a battery pack. Shouldn't make it less reliable.

Edits:

Here's the architecture of the hybrid system. The electric motor is integrated into the ZF 8 speed transmission. They totally could have done that with the Grenadier. https://x-engineer.org/bmw-phev-powertrain-architecture/

Well this is interesting. ZF is going to make the 8-speed transmission in a hybrid version only going forward. So the Grenadier will have to become hybrid if they keep making it. ZF says volume production begins this year with a full transition in 2025. So I predict the 2026 Grenadier will be a plug-in hybrid. That's also when the smaller EV version is expected, so I think the hybrid will be launched alongside it. https://www.zf.com/products/en/cars/stories/8speedautomatic.html

I found some real world mpg figures here. Someone in post #34 is getting 14 to 15 mpg (converted to US) over 1800 km with the petrol engine. Someone in post #47 is achieving 16 to 18 mpg (US) over 1400 miles.
