It's also possible for a site owner to serve up ads in a way that they don't trigger the adblock. I see this often on Vertical Scope sites. I'm a member of CumminsForum.com and even with uBlock Origin installed, I still get some ads if they're being served by the site directly instead of a known ad network. It's shitty.

It's funny, all of a sudden after the DSource acquisition, I started hearing/seeing complaints about VS on the web, totally bizarre. Suppose I'd just not been paying attention. Either way, the site still has broken parts this morning, got a database error yesterday. Whatever.

I'm on another site using vbulletin (not an automotive forum) and it has no ads, just solicits for $10 a year via paypal to keep things going. Totally willing to pay the cash for the value it brings.

Yeah, I grew up in the Arlington VA/DC area when DC punk rock was in it's heyday, so Dag Nasty, Minor Threat, Soulside, Scream, many others are bands I still listen to once in a while. I'm old now, though. That said I run into some of those people from time to time, saw Rollins last year at a restaurant, Ian Mackaye at the Whole Foods nearby.

As long as people are posting there it is fueling the fire. Why even bother trying to log in over there? You get the same help here but without the attitude.

Today it's just trying to get to a PM someone sent me last week about a chassis.

But normally it's to browse the parts section and find things I don't need. :p

Same here also. I should probably print all my PM's so I can make contact with those that I need to just in case.

I don't believe you can self delete but you can certainly request to be deleted.

Here's what happened when I requested to have my account deleted - I don't care about the old content but want to remove the SMOB name from their registry.

>>Hi there,

We do NOT delete accounts and/or content posted on the site. Please refer to the Terms of Use and Notices (http://www.verticalscope.com/aboutus...ndersource.com) that govern your use of this site. I can change your username, deactivate your account and remove your email address from our database. When we do this, your account will be deactivated and anonymized and you won't be able to get back into your account. Please confirm if you want us to do this for you.

Does the ability to edit posts on D90 have an expiration date? I was looking into migrating (what little valuable) content I contributed from there to here and deleting it from there. But I can't seem to figure out how to delete the texts from old posts or the posts entirely...

From above "We do NOT delete accounts and/or content posted on the site." so it looks like you can't delete posts. I bet since the change over you can't edit old posts either. I haven't tried that yet so can't confirm the editing part.

Briggs' posts over there are all deleted. Somehow it can be done. Although I think he may have had admin privileges.

Yeah, that's because he has/had mod privileges as a member of the site team and he used them to delete his own content.

No point in destroying D Source as you migrate over. It served most all of us well for many years. I just deleted my personal info and walked away. I look daily to compare their traffic to our but I don't see posting there again.
