Wow, that’s a killer deal.
Thanks Clay - I tried to use really good parts throughout (all of the hose clamps are the same style stainless ones from West Marine and the IC hose clamps are from Summit Racing). I know it's a 12L Disco engine but I figured the R380 shorty and the Turbonetics VVT would be good value. Along with the Glencoyne mounts, Revotec fan with all the 2 year old cooling system pieces.

It's setup for LHD but should be able to do RHD without much issue.

I have a 1.4 LT230 I can include as well.

This set up is sweet. People that have not done a swap b4 should really consider it bc the time and effort to source what you have on a platter they can’t imagine.

Nice setup! I'm interested. Is the current setup compatible with installation in a Disco 1? I have a 1998 4.0 with an R380. I'd like to replace the 4.0 with a 200 or 300 TDI. I've done a handful of motor swaps in other vehicles (most recently fitting a Perkins diesel in my IIA 88), but never in Disco. I'm obviously not expecting everything to bolt right in, but am curious about obvious & major interferences.

Thanks.

I am not sure how it would go into a Disco coming from a 4.0.

I did some searching and the Discovery/Range Rover engine mounts are NTC6280 (LH) and NTC6281 (RH). Then you would have to figure if the V8 frame mounts and 200tdi frame mounts are in the same location and the same shape.

Also this engine has the 300tdi turbo setup. Exhaust exit is in the front where as the Discovery 200tdi is in the rear.

I may have the original 200tdi exhaust manifold and turbo but would have to check.

And this gearbox is an R380 shorty I believe the Discovery 200tdi's had long bellhousing versions.

This is for the Discovery into Defender but might have the information for your setup if you read it "backwards"

Thanks for sending all that literature. I'll try to get through it in the next day or so. But with the original manifold, and the fact I have a disco R380 I can take parts from, nothing major jumps out at me.

I think the gas and diesel R380's are different so I would look into that as well. But you might be able to swap the shorty for a long BH one pretty easily.

Bump - I'll have this engine/tranny out soon and would like to not trip over it while installing the R2.8

$3,000 and will include the 1.4 LT230 I had pulled from another 110 last fall.

Located in central NJ - I can delivery within a 200 mile range for a fuel/toll money.
