I would suspect many other non Rover people have put NV4500s behinds LS engines and have figured out the exhaust.
Problem is the position of the engine doesn't allow clearance for the exhaust on the drivers side as it's very close to the frame. The one solution that works well for the automatic transmission folks is the hooker setup nick recommends but with our external slave, it doesn't work.
I looked at internal slaves and if I had a later nv4500 that might be an option but the earlier models look like they'd require some heavy machining (meaning more that I can do) to get that to work.
That leaves me with exhaust manifolds and I found one set that appears to have the exit flange near the third cylinder on each side and above the frame. This should give me the clearance I need. I'll let you guys know in a couple weeks when I get back from vacation.
