What Fuse are you using for your Revotec Electric Fan?

I Have a 1991 D90 200TDI that we installed a Revotec Electric Fan on and it keeps blowing a 20 amp fuse. The Instructions doesn?t specify what fuse to use and Revotec wasn?t sure but recommended a 20. What are y?all using?

Does it blow on start, or while running?

Either way, I think most fans should be at 30 amps, unless it says otherwise. As in, they will pull up to 30, but run at something like 10-15. Check ground, check any of the connections, check any 'choke points' for the electron flow to see if anything is heating up while the fan is running.

initial draw might be your problem, 30amp should be fine to deal with the spike, if its shorting it will blow a 30 as easily as a 20 or lower fuse.

How can the fan supplier not know what fuse to use? How was the wiring setup as you need to choose the correct wire size for the amperage.

This is how electric fans get a bad name. It is imperative to make sure the whole system is designed and installed properly.

I will double check when I get home but I could have swore I am using a 20A. This instruction guide specs a 20A.

Jesus, why is that showing a positive earth vehicle? That could get someone into big trouble.

As far as the fuse required, it would depend which fan or (fans) you used. They have more than one option. Most of their instructions do not seem to show a fuse. Scary.

Shows to being neg earth, just not wire colour wise.

???? The linked file is positive earth. I can figure it out, and I'm sure you can, but somebody that does not understand wiring, could really screw it up. It was just not a good choice of file to link.

Thanks guys for the feedback. 30 amp fuse and removing a rogue wire from the alternator fixed it!
Defender running great!!! Over 900 miles so far since Tuesday, headed to Maine for Lobster.
