WAZE

Just curious, I started using Waze on my phone a few years ago and I still like it.
Here in Virginia, radar detectors are illegal. Not that any of my trucks are really fast, but even the 300Tdi is capable of 80+ mph.
Waze has usually been good at calling out police/speed traps, etc.

I mostly use Waze for directions and I find the ETA is usually pretty accurate.

Are there any better apps out now or any tips to making Waze better?

What are y'all using?

I used waze for a brief period of time, but dumped it. To distracting if you are going to be one of those users that reports stuff.

The waze reports do appear on google maps as well.

Waze was incredible when I lived in Tacoma because people on I-5 were very diligent about reporting speed traps. It's useless out here in small town Kansas. We have lots of speed traps here in town and I've been pulled over twice already but nobody runs the app so I don't bother.

Used it a lot in NOVA just because that place is a hell-hole and traffic is about as predictable as a Trump press conference. Here in DFW we don't use it too much at all. I would say it's best used if you have a passenger that way you aren't distracted.

I hate GPS apps. Gimme a standalone unit any day.

But I do understand the problem with VA and speed traps. I think Waze is the only app that is reliable in reporting them. I have never seen a reported speed trap in my area, but then again I don't think they stick around long enough to get reported.

I'm not much of a Waze *reporter* unless I'm riding shotgun...

I try to be one of those fickle folks who isnt always playing with something other than the task of driving...:)
So I run the Waze app and just listen.
