Hi guys, I have someone looking for a very nice D110 station wagon. Here are the needs:
  • Prefer NAS but willing to entertain very well built RoW trucks
  • Must be in the USA already tagged and titled
  • Must be direct to truck and be able to put me in touch directly with seller (if you're not the owner)
  • Very nice interior quality, redone seating material ok / please provide source of work
  • Very nice exterior quality, respray ok if top tier / please provide source of work
  • If restored, must have documented work through a reputable dependable verifiable source
  • No soft tops, must be a 5-door SW
  • Prefer 300tdi, Td5 or V8
  • A/C a must, or must be able to add prior to shipping
  • Must have a good working heater
  • Must be mechanically sound, documented maintenance items, dates/what was done, etc.
  • no rust, no faded paint
  • no stories, no broken things, etc.
  • No blinged-out BS trucks
Please send all details including good pictures to support@seconddaily.com
Prefer that you send high-res volume of pics via WeTransfer and then details via email. Please don't ask the budget, I am very comfortable with the pricing/valuations of these trucks so when you send details, PLEASE include an asking price. This will only be shared to the client for the ones I pass along.

Have they considered a G wagen? ;)

But forreal, budget? Have they considered Td5/R2.8?

Right, keep forgetting the Td5 is legal to bring in now. So yeah, that would do as long as it can be documented/legit/trustworthy source etc.

Gwagen --- right? get a 2010+ and call it a day

Hit Crowther up, he has a couple of great options right now depending on budget

hey thanks, good call...I shared 3 really good options so far, a taste of the NAS and ROW spectrum along a wide price range as well. All high quality different trucks. Thanks again, UncleDoug...sending you an email.

How is the Td5 legal to bring in? The earliest model would be a 1999, which is only 21 years.

not a Td5 Defender, just the replacement engine in an earlier truck. 1998 engine could be imported.

which technically engine swaps of any kind other than original spec are not allowed even if done after a legal import. It’s a crazy law that gets misinterpreted all the time. The regulation is to protect from a citizen becoming an “automaker” because you have created a new variant of the vehicle (one the original automaker did not) by placing a non-factory specified engine into a vehicle. Goes for any swap anywhere in any car. Crazy but true.

Installing a Td5 in a non original would be a huge undertaking. A shit ton of additional wiring, harness, ECU etc etc. I would be a little worried buying one that has been installed aftermarket, due to so many of the hack jobs that are out there with easier engines. Try to take something like a Td5 and short cut it and you are in for a nightmare.

Have to admit though, it's a brilliant engine, very tunable and tons of power. I have chipped mine and dropped the center can off the exhaust, HUGE difference. I have also driven ones with the tune, uprated turbo and intercooler, aftermarket manifold and exhaust. Complete rocket ship. The key to tuning these engines is the power upgrade needs to be designed with all the upgraded components in mind. The tune for an ECU with an uprated turbo would be different than one with a stock turbo, and of course same for intercooler & exhaust.
