I went old school bias ply. I when with these

I have run many sets of these on 3 of my series trucks.
They are loud but are like none other off road.

Their disclaimers are priceless.
RECOMMENDED FOR OFF-ROAD USE ONLY!

These tires are street legal DOT approved but do not have any type of ride or balance warranty. These tires are great for off-roading but ride awful on the street and are near impossible to balance.

They can be balanced, it just takes a good tire shop. You can mark the valve stem and rotate 90 or 180 degrees to achieve a better balance. Or mount them and get them trued and rebalance. Take a little more time is all.
I like the super swampers too but have never run them. The 33x10.5 size is what I like.

How are the Buckshots on the road on a series? I have been looking at the SuperSwamper TSL's for my lightweight, but like these Buckshot Mudders as well. I dont drive very far on the road in my series, but I do take it out for short trips almost daily -- no high-way use...

Can anyone comment (NAPALM???) on ride quality of the Interco TSL's on a series or a Defender?

I can tell you that they are a typical bias ply tire. They are rough until they get heated up. They are loud as hell and are unreal off road. They excel in mud and clean themselves very well. Tough tire and great aggressive looks.

Ride quality on my interco ssr radials is great. It's a bit lumpy as to be expected under 10mph but anything above that is fine.

They are loud but not to the point where you can't have a conversation or the radio on.

They do tend to follow road ruts and require to be pumped up to 32+ psi for good road manners. No problems hitting 75 mph if balanced on a road force dynamic balancer.

Downsides are they are probably garbage in hard packed snow and ice, but that is to be expected as they do not have sipes. They are also heavy as fuck (90+ lbs) per wheel tire combo and really expensive.

I got mine on super sale from 4wp.Com mounted and Balanced on procomp steel wheels. They wheels after discounts were $47 a pop

They do look bad ass, here is an old pic before the respray and flares

Ps buckshot mudders are a death sentence even in local driving. Garbage handling, squishy tread blocks, impossible to stop.. No way

Talking about a bias ply tire with tractor like treads, the closest I've got is with the Goodyear G90s that came on the Defender. Not knowing how old they were, and looking to smooth things out for the 99% street driving that the Defender does, I swapped them over to the Series. They are really good off road, and surprisingly good on road. At least in the Series, you really can't tell..... When I put it in neutral and coast at 20-40 mph, you can tell that there is extra noise coming from them, but they seem well balanced, and not rough at all.

While I have BFG MTs on my 90, I have been pleased with the Cooper ST MAXX on my Disco. Im running 235/85 and have over 50K miles on them. They are nearly worn out, but have been great.

I think the G90s weak point is softer rubber that wears out on road quicker. There are lots of takeoffs in the UK cheap on natos but xzys on 1 tons with bands were cheaper. That's what I grabbed when I was over there.

Goodyear Duratrac tires have been great for me here in CO for the past year. Zero issues in any weather condition.
I ran Super Swampers back in MO and had them siped. I owned both Radial and Bias with some good results but never a daily driver but used for cross country wheeling trips from MO to CO and UT several times a year.
Most tires have a give and take for certain uses like snow or mud but if the tire has siping or you add siping it will almost always work better in snow or ice.

Right. So I ended up getting a free set of 235/85 BFG ATs. They have good tread left, and once I get the whole set installed, I’ll be surprised if I don’t like the way it handles, etc. However, the tire that looked so tall and skinny on my various Discos, look too small on the Defender! I’m going to run them out, but I’m struggling to figure what size would work for a normal tire that is available to order in he states.

255s seem better, but they are wide for my taste, and about $50+ more per tire!
