temp sensor in end tank

I bought a 300tdi (metal tank) rad that was damaged in shipping. I have to take it to a local rad shop to have some minor repair and testing, and want them to put in a sensor port while they are fixing it. I may put a revotek fan on there (already own one), or simply use it for a temp alarm or something. Id rather use the tank than cut into the upper hose and add a port that way. Anyone have any recommendations on what size/thread to put in there? I assume for a fan i can use any relay/sensor kit I want, but i dont have one yet and figured id ask here. TIA

Just out of curiosity, have you done any research on temp sensor placement? I’ve always wondered about putting them in the radiator

not a terrible amount, but the rad guy told me where its placed should be close enough the upper hose temp, where most cut in and place a sensor. Brass tank makes it easier, as he said putting in a plastic is doable, but more likely to fail. I think alisport puts theirs in rad as well. ill find out I guess once i test it out.
