They are already building in China, and will be opening two other plants as well.
As soon as Toyota builds the land cruiser replacement and unveils the FT-X4, it'll be the end. Jeep just needs to sell a wrangler unlimited with more cargo space like their Africa concept and I will have the perfect problem of choosing a new auto. Don't get me wrong. I love my 110 and every other Rover I've had, but when it comes time to replace the poverty Honda van, Land Rover still won't have released their new Defender and Toyota and Jeep will have a viable options.
I kind of liked the Jeep Africa concept. Not sure if I would want to spend ridiculous money for it though.
I just can't get over the "Me Too" factor of Wranglers. The train station I park at every day, there is literally a line of 15 or so Wranglers in a row. It is like being enrolled in a club I have no interest in ever going to.

Unique counts as a handicap, right?
A+G – The next Defender is clearly not so far away now. Are you confident it will resonate with Land Rover traditionalists, or is it aimed at an altogether different kind of buyer?
KM – There is going to be so much attention when this [new Defender] comes to market, there’s no question. There’s going to be a group of people who will not like it, because they are traditionalists and they like the historic visual expression of the brand. But it has to have the capability that one expects from Defender and Land Rover. I think it will have the goods.
This is going to be a new, modern expression, but we haven’t left behind what you would expect of it in terms of capability. Defender is a model that can stretch by itself from something that is very basic to something that is perhaps a little more luxury focused. You’ll probably see a wide range there. It’ll be fun; I can’t wait.
