This is what I moved on to after I sold the Defender. Any other guys made the move. Doing the build myself, been a lot of fun so far.

My plan is to get there. I have been looking at Sprinter conversions for a long time now and am sold on the idea. I plan on doing a lot more travel seeing my grandkids, exploring and just roaming. I think the Sprinter van is the way I want to go. I would love to follow your build, if not on this sit do you have it on another?

I went with a 2018 Power Wagon with Four Wheel Camper Hawk. I did look at a Nissan Full size van with 4WD conversions and popping roof. Would have been less comfortable/capable for more $$$ than I have in the PW/FWC. But I really like the idea of a van.

So out of Defenders but still have my old Series. The idea is/was to drag the Series behind the PW.

I'm thinking of one day building up a ford transit connect into a camper. Hoping Ford offers a diesel option some day.

I'm very curious about how the Sprinters go down the road... the appeal of standing room is strong, while the compactness and efficiency of the Transit Connect is as well. I tend to mostly go on 'dirt bag' fishing trips - eating ramen and potato chips for days and using my vehicle or tent only for sleeping - and discovered like-minded guys with gutted Transit vans along the way. That one looks sweet.

This is my dream set-up. A truck with FW Camper and flat tow my Series.

While I do not camp I own over 10 of them for work. The majority of them do over 20k miles a year and are solid. Even the bare bone trucks seats are comfortable.

Unless it is super windy they are great. Our super high roof has gone from Philly to Orlando and back a few times. MB also has the Metris that I plan to check out once they get one in the dealership long enough to at least sit in.
