For future website owners... You do not need to take a site down to update it.

You do if you want to create a buzz. :)

Case in point. YRM created a new site and the old site is still live, active, etc. Safari took theirs down. This thread was started 12hrs after the YRM thread and they almost have just as many replies. Science. LOL. No not science. Just having fun.

Safari's new site is up and running. As suspected emphasis on vehicle rehabilitation, not parts.

It wouldn't surprise me given the amount of space/time/capital and managerial effort involved with selling parts versus doing builds for a much higher return on investment of all the aforementioned inputs. Not to mention the personal satisfaction of building a really cool high dollar rig versus stocking/selling/packaging/shipping a used slave cylinder to some poor dipstick like me who is too cheap to buy new. Getting out of the parts business is a no-brained to me.

Wondering if we can still buy the cool special parts that they make. The dash cowl and related parts that is.

My guess is that they will still use the forums and ebay to download/promote some of their products. I have one of their dash cowls and it is awesome!

It's best to call them if you need something.

Calling them works, sure. But I feel that doing anonymous purchases online supports my addiction much better.

I'm afraid that if I actually have to speak to someone when ordering parts they will say "didn't you just call here yesterday ordering a bunch of stuff?" and "you really need to get a life and stop spending money on Land Rovers!"

Welcome to Rover Hoarders Anonymous... or just Rover Hoarders, since you can't be anonymous any more.

Please don't call them hoarders. They are very sensitive and get upset when you do that.

I like to rotate parts, not hoard them.

Although I do have a bin for "not worth enough to sell, but too valuable to throw away" parts. And one for "I may need that (or part of that) someday" parts. And one for "maybe I can use that on my next project" parts.

I like your line of thinking.

At home I have various fasteners from TV mounts that can work with LR projects or others. I bought items that "might" work on my current project. If they don't so be it I might need them down the road.

At work I have manufacturers that tell their customers to call us because we have been known to hoard stuff that hasn't been made is over 30 years.
