Robison Service's 'Searching for an RoW Land Rover' article fails to mention a few Defender engines

I'm sure many of you receive Rovers Magazine and it's always a pleasure reading, but I was disappointed reading Robison Service's 'Searching for an RoW Land Rover' article in the Holiday 2020 issue when they failed to cover at least 3 Defender engines in the engine guide section of the article. Those would be the Rover T16 and BMW M52 petrol engines and the Isuzu 4BD1 diesel engine, for the Italian, South African, and Australian markets, respectively. They list the T16 and M52 in the 'RoW VIN Decoder' in the beginning of the article (2.0 Lti Petrol Cat & 2.8 M52 Petrol), so I was expecting to see those discussed in the engine guide. Instead they are omitted and the article states "the NAS 1997 Defender was the last production petrol engine offered," which of course is incorrect (the M52 was produced into 2000 and I'm not sure what year was the end for the Rover T16). I thought perhaps they were omitted because they are too new to import to the USA, yet they include the Td5 engine and discuss how it is legal to import into Canada. The article also implies the Td5 wasn't sold in Africa, yet it was. So I was bothered by this because I think if you're going to put effort into making an article like this you should put effort into making it comprehensive and correct.

I wish someone would review the 2L gasoline engine. Does it perform satisfactorily? Why doesn't LR offer a diesel engine in the US? The sound of the diesel is one of its most endearing features. A light ticking engine noise. Very pleasing.

LR does offer Diesel engines in the US.

And the last part of your comment is very relative. I don't think anyone has ever described a 200tdi's idle as "a light ticking engine noise".

But yes, a diesel is truly the best engine for a Land Rover

Okay, so that was the year it began, but it looks like they used that engine well into Series III production.
Not in the US. 1967 NADA 109 Series IIa Station Wagon was the only one / year that had it. ‘71-‘74 Series III had 2.25 4 cylinder.

Guess I wasn't clear enough. one year only in USA. Elsewhere, they kept it. Only the SWB was imported starting in 1968.

Yep. Wasn’t sure about ROW yet having owned a ‘67 NADA 109 IIa was pretty sure in the US. ECR also has a good info section on US Rovers throughout the years.

Oh okay, well it's not a Defender engine anyways, unless you adopt Land Rover's current position that all Series are Defenders too.
