He once told me that he sends one to everyone who reports a sighting.

I have submitted several sightings over the years and have only once received a coveted mug. A second mug sure would complete the set but alas that is just a dream.

I would believe it to be random as I have submitted many sightings over the years.
Sometimes I have mugged; sometimes I have not.

I have submitted 1 or 2 and I am pretty sure that it was not posted in the magazine. It was definitely a new sighting as well.

My mug is genuinely one of the most coveted things in the house. I’ve submitted a few times and gotten one. I think a lot of times the submission doesn’t have all the info to get a mug sent back, so that’s why some people get them and some don’t. Either way, I think it’s a freaking awesome thing for Rovers North to do. Every time I order I always ask if they will add one to the order (I wonder how many people do the same, my guess is EVERYONE) and they just laugh and tell me it doesn’t work that way.
