Anybody have good or bad to say about the bat-wing? Thanks
I have the Oztent Foxwing. Looks like the same hinge system. It's been broken once by wind when I let my wife carry my truck to a car show and she did not rope down the support poles. Gust of wind pulled the awning up off the poles and tried to fold it over the top of the truck. One of the hinge pieces (plastic) broke. The aluminum was not hurt at all. They offer replacement plastic hinge pieces so ordering and replacing the hinge piece was no issue.
But that enlightened me that you should always always rope the poles to the ground. Any gust risks breaking the hinge piece. So no quick set ups, or roadside hey lets spin out the awning and get out of the sun for a bit. So the convenience factor isn't what I thought it would be if you want to guarantee you don't break your awning.
If I had to do it over, I'd save up and do the alucab awning if I wanted a quick setup convenient awning. I still really like the foxwing from a camping and tent integration standpoint for the oztent equipment, which no one else really offers to my knowledge. It will ultimately depend on your use case.
