My 12,000 original mile LT85 has blown up... looking for leads on a good used unit or someone who might be able to rebuild for a reasonable fee.

Thanks!

I've seen one or more listed for sale on this or the other site. There are 2 types.
Outfit in New Mexico rebuilds Series boxes, maybe Defs too. Ashcroft used to rebuild them, may still.
5th gear is overdrive, and should not be lugged!

Rob Dassler in ABQ rebuilt my LT95, super pleased. He would be my first call for a rebuild of any LR manual transmission in the US.

Split case unit?

They're not that hard of a job. I made one 'special' shim tool to set the reverse spacing (sheet metal and a gentle file down to get it within spec). IRCC the manual has the specs for it. The only other item to note is you'll probably need to order a few ultra thin headed screws. There are 3 or 4? Allen heads that strip out very easy and need to be whacked loose with a chisel. I found replacements viaMcMaster. Ashcroft for the rebuild kit.

I have a "i know works*" split case unit in my container, but it's by no means tested or approved as it came out of a truck that wheeled hard, would need a tear down/rebuild.
